Walked up and down the main road in town and when it was light
walked around the cemeteries, the ball park, and some more around town.
Saw a bunch of straw in the town pond and wondered
what was up with that.
but Joy had the answer for us.
Barley hay is put in ponds to control the algae.
Three women were walking around the cemetery.
Two with strollers and one walking a dog.
I've seen them a couple times now and they are just getting
started when I'm leaving.
Stopped to talk to a woman who was walking her dog
around the ball park.
Her name is Jennifer and she lives at the lake.
Not sure if it is part time or year round.
We must have talked for 10 minutes or more.
She was so nice!
Hopefully she'll be back walking around here again.
Top leaves are from a Red Bud tree but don't know
about the other two leaves.
Thought they were different to see the three different colors on the same leaf.

Did the usual morning routine around the house.
Ken went to work on the road.
He has made a little bridge.
I didn't get out there to look at it though but will tomorrow.
No sun today, just clouds and a drizzle now and then.
We went for a little ride this afternoon
along some country roads.
Started a jigsaw puzzle!
Just got the border done.
It has 1000 pieces and is called
Moving In.
Kind of a lazy day for me.

...sometimes they put a special straw/hay in ponds to help clean up algae. The bottom two leaves look like flowering pear. Enjoy your fall Karen.
The other day, I did a part of the puzzle you shared with us. Twenty-three minutes later, I had the stairs done. I am obviously not the finest at putting puzzles together. If I could have saved it, I would have to continue to the end.
Those leaves have spectacular colors on them. It does look unusual to have so many colors on one leaf.
I loved hearing about the barley for algae control. I have a couple of people I am going to share this information with.
Those are my favorite steps so far! I think it is partly the pumpkin.

The Drane House stairs are now my favorite, and will be hard to beat. How can a simple leaf be so beautiful? But it is!

I meant to tell you the other day, that I did your stair puzzle and rather enjoyed doing it. I do like this picture of stairs as well - simple and an appropriate pumpkin in place. The one leaf with the multiple layered colors is unusual. Ranee (MN)

That's so interesting that barley straw gives off something that inhibits the growth of algae. Good thing someone knew about that and could solve the mystery.
