Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A walk to town and sifting dirt

48 degrees this morning, calm and sunny when I started out walking.
Didn't drive to town today but took my stick and walked to town.

It's about a mile and a half from my house to the main road
down these two roads.

Then to town along the main road.

Once I got to town, I walked around both of the cemeteries which are
right at the beginning of the town.

Don't usually see any one when I walk to town walking along the
quiet country roads.  It is peaceful and pretty.

After walking around the cemeteries I headed back down the main road.

Turned right off the main road and walked down here.

Another right turn takes me down this road,
which is where I live.
Just up a hill and around a couple of curves and I'm back home.

2 miles to town, 2 miles around town, and 2 miles back home again
for my 6 mile walk.

☀️    🚢‍♀️    ☀️

Food shopping this morning at the Shop and Save.

Put the makings of chili in the slow cooker for supper tonight.
Three meals out of it.
Chili
Chili Mac
Taco Salad

Ken made me this sifter gizmo so I could sift out the rocks in the dirt
for the raised garden.  It was the perfect size for me and easy to use with
the handles on the side.

Ken dumped two big tractor loads of dirt for me to sift through.
There was a LOT of stones mixed in with the dirt and it
took a while but got some real nice dirt out of it.

Ken helped sift a bit too.
Added some peat moss to the dirt and someone said it was good to add
saw dust, so added that some of that too and mixed it all up.
Now just have to wait for June 1 to plant my few plants.
The green growing in the other raised box is rhubarb planted there last year.

A beautiful summer like day with lots of sunshine and the
temperature made it up to 74 degrees!!!

After working we sat on the porch for a while
till we went in the house to get cleaned up for supper
and enjoyed a delicious taco salad.

Life is Good

Hope your day was a happy one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Yes enjoyed these photos as well. Thanks Ken for the clever sifter idea and the simplicity of it! I like your raised beds Karen, no bending or kneeling.

What a beautiful walk you had! It has to be so nice walking along quiet country roads. Here I have to worry about getting run down by cars everywhere I walk, that's why I usually stick to the beach for my walks.

Those are some really nice raised boxes!

That’s another beautiful six-mile walk! I enjoy best walking alone... except for Millie, of course.

Looks like a wonderful morning walk. I like your raised garden beds.
They make gardening a little easier on the back and knees.
Take care, enjoy your day!

It is nice to see the Mists hanging about on your early morning walks. Winter is just around the corner from us- getting very cold at night now. Regards. KEV.

Hi Karen! I got some walking sticks for Christmas and I just took them out of their packaging yesterday! I don't know what took me so long, but I might take them out for a hike today.
Taco salad sounds wonderful. I made taco soup and cornbread last night.
Take care, good walker!
