Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A walk, baby birds, and planting

52 degrees, calm and sunny as I drove to town for my walk this morning.

Started out walking around both of the cemeteries and down to
see the bulls.

Once in a while I see this cat over at the lower cemetery
and he comes over to see me.
(he lives across the street from the cemetery)

Walked passed the day care center and over to the ball park
and walked around there once.
Continued over to the Dollar General and then up and down
one of the roads in the industrial park.
Back on the main road through town and once again
around the cemetery before getting back to the Jeep.

Saw a couple of rabbits and the geese family over at the pond.

Walked 6 miles

☀️    🚶‍♀️    ☀️

A Robin has built a nest under the front porch and there are now
4 babies in the nest.
It is the perfect place for the nest!!
While we sit on the porch we watch both mom and dad
 bring food to the babies.
We don't see them actually feeding them because they are underneath us
but we hear the little ones when mom and dad approach with worms.
They built the nest in the same place last year too.

My town must be the Robin capital of the state.
There are so many and are by far the most common bird I see around.

We went to a local nursery to get a cucumber plant but they
didn't have any yet.  Was told that the plants aren't quite ready yet
but will be soon.
While there we bought a flat of marigolds.
I know it is a little early for planting here but I planted half of them
anyway.  No frost at all in the forecast for the rest of the month so I
took a chance.  Plan on planting the veggies in the raised boxes tomorrow.

That's all I have for today.
Hope your Wednesday was a happy one.

It is so good to see the robins be trusting and build a nest that close to human activity. It is a treat to watch one of God's creation as they take care of their own.

It's fun to hear about the people and animals that greet you while on your walks. We had a freeze last night and the only plant that seems to be suffering is the one jalapeno plant. We have lots of robins here, too. Hope you have a nice evening.

Marigolds are pretty hardy and they will probably be fine! Sure is pretty and green there now! Enjoy your evening! Ice cream or cookies...or both?

This is the first year in a long time that we haven't had a robin's nest or a bluebird nest. We had a bluebird nest in one of our houses with five eggs but it appears that either the parents abandoned it or something happened to them. Hopefully, we will get another family. We love watching them!

Aren't baby birds funny with their big mouths ( well, I guess they're beaks, not mouths). I wish we had more Robins around. I like to hear their cheerful songs.

Robins are thick here, too. Do you ever notice how happy birds are? They are just constantly singing for joy. I hope your raised beds do good...

Hello,

I love the views, you do live in a pretty area! The kitty is cute and I love the baby birds.
I do not see many Robins here, once in a while I will see or hear them. Take care, enjoy your day!

Hi Karen- Some time back we had Blackbirds nesting around the side of the house under the covered Pergola- the Nest was made in a wall plant named a 'Staghorn'...we haven't seen the Blackbirds around for awhile now. Not long till it is Winter here- getting very cold at night. Regards. KEV.

Those baby Robins have some smart parents. How fun to watch the proceedings.

If I were to plant something besides flowers, I'd choose cucumbers as well. Happy planting! 🥒

Many robins here. Driveway looks like a Jackson Pollack painting. I sowed some marigold seeds from last year's blooms and they are growing! Also planted some pepper seeds and grape tomatoes to see if they grow or not. Hit and miss with that approach but it's fun to see if they grow or not. Like your pic with the blue hat:)

How fun to have a front row seat to the little robin family. Love the picture of them in their nest.
Do you have any trouble with the local wildlife eating your garden plants?

One of our sons has a robins nest in his garden.

All the best Jan

We have a lot of barn swallows in our area. Of course, there is a barn just across the street. So I guess that is why.
