Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

For Sale

No rain today, just sun, a temperature 51 and no wind - beautiful.

Drove past a couple of deer and some rabbits on the way to town.
A routine walk around both cemeteries, the ball park, and to the
Dollar General where I turned around, and walked back through town.

Today the boots were sitting just outside the fence in the corner by
the cemetery. They made it OUT of the cemetery this time.

Up ahead the building on the left is where I waited out one of the
heavy rain downpours yesterday.

A man named Joe owns the building and I met him while walking
when we first moved here.
He worked for the town then and I used to see him every morning
driving around in his truck.
The building was at one time (before we moved here) an antiques shop
and it is still packed full with of all kinds of old stuff.
Many years ago it was Rosie's - a general store.
I've heard people speak of Rosie fondly and missed the store when it was closed.

Saw Rebecca out walking Leo but far way from me.

Walked 6 miles

🙂    🌤    🚶‍♀️

Made our weekly trip to the Dollar General in town after breakfast
to use our coupon which we forgot and left on the kitchen table.
BUT we mentioned we forgot it and was given the discount anyway.
Another nice thing about living in a small town.

Between our house and the farm with the escaping cows is another
piece of property which is owned by people who only come up
once or twice a year.
We noticed a For Sale sign up at the end of their driveway.

A quarter mile up the driveway sits a cute cabin in the woods.
Took a walk up there this afternoon to take the picture.

A nice afternoon for walking so took another walk around Happy Trails.
We've been seeing a big pileated woodpecker flying around lately.
I'm thinking that maybe he is the one who made the holes in the tree
which I came across on my walk.

Nice to sit on the front porch this afternoon for a while and read.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

Thanks for sharing the woodpecker holes! Amazing. I hear one when I am walking but of course had no idea how big the holes would even be. Wow. The cabin for sale looks cozy. Sounds like another great day in a small town to me. Be well.

...I have been working everyday in my garden and because of the Emerald Ash Borer the sound of the woodpeckers is amazing.

That woodpecker has been working away! Looks like nice property for sale up there and I like that cabin. Thanks to for the sweet comment you left today. I knew you would like my new RED Jeep! Now we have even more in common! Enjoy your weekend!

I wonder where the boots will go next?! I think I want that cabin for a summer retreat! I'm getting too old to withstand the sweltering heat of summers in Florida. We have woodpeckers here but I've never seen big holes like that! Your town sure looks pretty perfect to me.

Those woodpecker holes are amazing! One busy woodpecker. That was nice to have your coupon honored even though you forgot it.

Those oblong holes are definitely Pileated Woodpecker work. These birds are so fascinating to watch.

Hello,

Yes, those Pileated Woodpecker do make some huge holes in the trees. The house and property for sale look very nice! It is funny, those boots are getting in some steps. Take care, have a happy day and a great new week!

I left a reply to you, in my own comments, which I rarely do.... So, I copied it and paste it below. -smile-

HAPPYONE...

Oh no!!!! "Keeping Up Appearances" actress and "Vera" actress, are not the same!

The "Keeping Up Appearances" actress is Patricia Routledge.

And the "Vera" actress is Brenda Blethyn.

----------------------------------------

Looking at the 2 pictures of the 2 actress', which I posted, I do see a similarity. But just in those 2 photos. Not in real life, and not in the shows. You are correct, in never thinking this, before.

Ahhhh, that is Joe's!!!!! Now I see.

Leaving coupon home, and still getting the discount! A perk of a small town. Yes. And also the perk of doing lots of business, with a store, even in what is called a city. -smile- Nice. Like the old fashioned days. Of more intimate stores.

Oh the boots have escaped! Hope they don't go too far!

That's a nice 'cabin'! Sad that they used it so infrequently. Seems wise to sell it, to someone who will make use of it. Hope they are not loud new neighbors. -smile-

Wow, that bird is a worker! Look at those hole!!!!

Have to get new chairs, for the front patio for us! The old ones, which had been here "forever," broke. I saw a couple, in the Vermont Country Store. Rocking chairs. -smile- YOur sitting out, and our neighbors sitting out on their front porch, is pushing me. -smile-

The woodpeckers have been working on those trees for awhile. They are pretty impressive to see.

I wonder if the boots being outside the cemetery means that they are finished with their walk about. That woodpecker certainly has been busy! We once had one that pecked at our metal mailbox at about six o'clock every morning!

Those woodpecker holes are amazing! Never seen anything like it. We had two Pileated woodpeckers living in a dead Maple tree in the back yard but their holes were were near so pretty.

I like that cabin which is on the property that is for sale. I wonder how long it will take to sell. I thought the farm from which the cows escape was right next to you but obviously those cows like to take a longer walk...right into your yard.

I like the look of that cabin.

Goodness, I was quite surprised by the size of the holes made by the woodpeckers.

All the best Jan

The woodpecker holes are amazing! I'm enjoying those mysterious boots and wondering if someone is doing that for your benefit. Will we ever know the mystery of the boots? lol

Karen I had a question regarding the woodpeckers. Do they peck at dead trees or live ones? And those trees in your post, are they dead? Sorry for being so uninformed regarding woodpeckers.
