Books I've Read In 2018

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.
~Henry David Thoreau

This is the day which the Lord hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Weather still not so great so it was another basement walk for me today.
2 miles before breakfast, 2 after breakfast, and never got around
to walking the other 2 miles so walked 4 miles today.
Today's layout photo.

Ken went outside after breakfast to snow blow the driveway.
Took this picture from the living room window.
He is in orange in the middle of the picture.

I didn't go out at the same time because Ken finds me a bit annoying with
my snow shovel. I don't blame him because I do get in his way. 🙂
He just goes out to clear a way to get the car out.
I on the other hand have to get right to the edge of the driveway
and have it all nice and tidy right to the road and beyond.
So he was out and back inside in 20 minutes.
Then I went out and tidied things up with my shovel and was outside
almost 2 hours.  After I was done shoveling walked around in the
snow for a little while. (that's why only the 4 miles walk inside)

Hard to tell how much snow we got because it was so windy
that some places have been swept clear and other places have drifts.

This is out in back of the house..

Ken made me my favorite lunch of nachos when I got back inside.

Worked on making weave-it squares and now have the 70
I need for a baby blanket - just have to sew them together.

Made some chocolate pudding for our snack tonight.
Don't know exactly what these dishes are supposed to be used for,
but I like eating pudding out of them.
The dishes were my Gramma's.

Didn't get to read this afternoon so looking forward to doing that later.

Ken bought the DVD collection of Law and Order and it came in the
mail today and tonight we start with season one.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy Wednesday to you.

Life is like a blanket of snow.
Be careful how you step on it.
Every step will show.

Vee - You got it right about the bird cages.  Ken's mom used to
have parakeets at one time.

Anni - Yes, Ken's train layout is a hobby in progress and it will NEVER be done.  He just keeps adding more and more detail.  He started this current layout when we moved here 2 years ago.  He's made others when we lived in other houses.  One of his layouts was published in a model train magazine some years ago.

Oh, it's all so pretty...the layout, the snow, the scene from your house, and the pudding looks delicious. I had to laugh about you going out with the shovel to tidy up. I'm the same way. Just got to have straight neat edges. Poppy is always saying, why has everything got to look pretty to you? :)

I do enjoy treats in pretty glassware. You got a huge workout today on top of the 4 miles inside! That's a huge area to snowblow and shovel!

Now I always think of you two as a team and I think you just have to work "together" at different times. ☺️ And you are the tidy it up person. Really funny, but no wonder you didn't need another two miles after all that work. Your dessert looks great to me and nicely presented.

Love that summer retreat scene. I could happily spend time there.

...the detail in Ken's train layout is amazing. We had about 1.5" of snow and it's melting. They look like pudding dishes to me!

The pudding looks so good. I like chocolate pudding. I also like your knitted Christmas socks. Such a fun and cozy part of Christmas. It is always fun to see Ken's train layout. Wow, you got a lot of snow. We don't have any out here, and we need some for the ski resorts and next summer's water supply. See you again tomorrow.

All that snow looks so good. At this time of year I prefer to see the snow, as opposed to bare trees and ground.

That's a lot of snow you are having.

God bless.

That would be great to watch the progress while he works on it all!

SNOW in my mind is another four letter word! Ya, it's pretty. Thru the window, but shoveling, snow blowing, sanding the slick walkways,

The train display looks great! I would think shoveling was a work-out in itself besides your walking. The pudding looks yummy. I love the cute stockings. Take care, have a happy day!

It looks beautiful outside but a nice day to enjoy the train too! I love the stockings hung...very fun! Hope today is better weather. We are supposed to be 70 this afternoon so we'll be hiking then. Hugs!

Your snow looks so pretty. The pudding looks extra special in those pretty dishes. I had ice cream last night and thought of you :).

I think all of us will enjoy the train scenes this winter. I love the snow and look forward to a snow day here in our woods, hopefully before too long. My favorite pictures today are of the stockings and the pudding.

You husband deserves to be featured in a train layout set. His stuff is mind blowing from what I have seen.

I'm like you when I shovel snow. It has to be neat and tidy with the edges all straight! I've been known to put snow back in places where I shoveled too far and got onto the grass! I know, crazy!

It looks so cold! But all fresh and clean! I like what you have the pudding in...looks delicious served like that.
