Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Rock Crusher

This morning when I left on my walk to town the temperature was 61 degrees, very calm and cloudy.  A nice but uneventful walk.  Went through town and around the ball park, back down the main road and lastly walked around the lower cemetery before heading back home again.

Didn't see anyone else out walking, and the usual animals weren't around either.
Walked 5.7 miles.
Just as I was getting to town, I looked down and there on the side of the road was a quarter and 2 pennies!!  💰

After breakfast Ken drove the tractor up to the tractor barn on the other side of Happy Trails where we keep our rock crusher.  I stayed at home for a little bit till the laundry was done and hung up on the line and then walked up to where Ken was.

Some of you may remember that we own our very own 100 year old rock crusher and today I had fun crushing rocks with it.
We didn't have to collect any rocks today because there already was a big pile that we collected a while back.  The tractor has a PTO which turns a belt and gets the rock crusher working.

That's me up there putting rocks in the crusher.

I drop the rocks down there and they get crushed into small stones.

Ken is at the bottom where the rocks come out and lines up the white buckets and most of the rocks fall in them. We filled up 10 buckets two times.  Once in the morning and once after lunch.

Then we put the rocks in the truck and went back to the house and dumped them around by the house.  Will be posting pictures another day of where we put the rocks we crushed and the finished bridge.  Want to pretty things up a bit yet.  Still have more rocks to crush for another little project at the house too.  Just got the idea sitting on the porch this afternoon.

Supper tonight was ham steaks with roasted potatoes and asparagus.

The day ended up being a beautiful sunny day with some big puffy white clouds, a nice cool breeze in the mid 70's.  A perfect day.

I bet it felt good to sit down tonight. Ham steaks sounds good...it has been a while since I fixed one on the grill. They are soooo good that way. (But ham is good any way you fix it.)

...before the pandemic locally we had a steam show and one of the featured machines was a rock crusher. It was a beast!

That sounds like a lot of work to crush those rocks. i guess when you work on these things together it can become fun.

Well, that's definitely something NO ONE else has! We sure could have used one when we were landscaping our house in NC! I would love to watch it work...or watch YOU work! I could supervise! Could I supervise? hahaha! Enjoy your day! Hugs!

Amazing pictures of the rock crushing. I never heard of a rock crusher before, but you live and learn, which is why I really like to be on blogger.

Your own personal rock crusher, very cool. I never heard of a rock crusher before and never knew a person could have one. Enjoy your day!

So that's a real thing. Rock crusher. I thought it was going to be some kind of strong-beaked bird or a mythical creature. Nope, it's YOU! 😂

This is really important to remember, especially in this season of campaigns and voting!

Wow, all that rock crushing looks like a big, noisy job, but the end result is great!
