Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Letters to Santa

Waiting for it to get light enough to go out and walk I walked a mile in the house.  Then left the house a little after 7:00.

After the rain from yesterday there are only a few patches left of snow here and there.

It was 22 degrees, clear, and calm when I left.  Sunrise 7:24.

Walked to town.

At the wishing well in town next to the brick church
there is a sign telling kids that they can write letters to Santa

and drop them off in the red letter box.
It was nice to see the prayer request box there too.

Very quiet around town this early Saturday morning.
Didn't see anyone else out and just a few cars went by.
No deer either.

Walked 1 mile in the house and 5 outside.

🌤     🌤     🌤

I changed the dishes on my hutch around.
Took down the red and yellow Fiestaware
and put out the green and ivory.

We had some more visitors come by to look at the train layout.
This time it was Connie, (another one of the librarians from town)
her husband and daughter.
They had no idea of the size of the layout and enjoyed looking
at all the details in it.

We finished the puzzle.
Didn't take a picture yet, when I do I'll post it.
Have the next puzzle picked out but won't start it for a few days.
(maybe)  🙂

 Till next time. . .
a happy day to you.

I am grateful for the silence of winter mornings,
for the beauty and wonder of the glint of sunlight in frost melting to dew,
for the early-riser's peaceful solitude that sets a mood of thankfulness, hope, and calm for the dawning day.

Deb - Forgot to answer your question yesterday of what type of books Ken likes reading.  He mostly likes non-fiction history. The most recent books he's been reading are personal stories of people who were in WWII.
He is also known to like a good thriller mystery too.

Oh, I love the green and ivory...love all those round'boxes' in he corner. I call them at boxes but don't know if that is the proper name for them. That was sure a beautiful sunrise.

Hi Karen. I love this post. Great pictures. I love that sunrise photo! That is so fun that the kids in your town take their Santa Letters and put them in that little box by the well. I love your hutch and really like that blue color on your wall. I really like blue too. Charly also likes non-fiction history. He reads a lot about the Civil War and World War II and now he is also reading some books about politics and the economy. I just asked Charly what his favorite kinds of history books are he said "well-written ones." Good answer. Enjoy the rest of your day and I will see you tomorrow.

The colors are so pretty in that room with the hutch. The boxes, the dishes, and the walls.

Have missed dropping in to see what's going on in your small community. Must be wonderful to have such close nit neighbors.

It is good to see the prayer request box out there, but it struck me that this box is so much smaller than the Letters to Santa one. Just one of my random thoughts.

"I am grateful for the silence of winter mornings; for the early riser's peaceful solitude." That sounds so like you, dear Happy One! This is a lovely post - the sunrise, the green and ivory in the cupboard, and all....

That’s a noble use for the wishing well...letters to Santa and prayer requests. Wonder if there’s someone who will read them. I love your hutch all decked out in green and ivory. It’s a very handsome piece your hutch.

Your house looks so peaceful. Is the road busy normally? I love the wishing well- such a great idea!

I love those boxes in the corner, they're a perfect match for the colour of the room.
Nice photos!

Such pretty streaks of red/orange in the sunrise photo.
The green and ivory dishes look very nice as does the tall tower of boxes. Do you keep anything in them?

I saw in your other post that the boxes next to your cabinet are shaker boxes. Very clever way to store your Christmas decorations.
