Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A split walk

Drove to town and started walking at 6:40.
30 degrees and cloudy with a bit of a breeze.
Sunrise 7:20

Saw three deer driving to town.

Walked over to the library first and put a couple books
down the book drop.
Then walked around town.
It started to snow after a couple of miles
when I was walking around the lower cemetery.

Another mile and the snow was coming down pretty hard.
Started to stick on the roads so after 3 miles I went back to the
Jeep and drove back home.

I changed my shoes to snow sneakers and went back outside
to walk the other 3 miles up near the house.
Of course by that time, the snow stopped.

I walked up the lane.

At this point to the right leads to our neighbors Ron and Theresa's house.
The left is the driveway to a neighbor who I don't know.
They just come up once in a while.
Was going to walk up there but since it is hunting season
and didn't know if anyone was up there,
I decided to check it out another day.

So turned around and went back down

and walked around Happy Trails.

Walked a total of 6 miles.
It was nice to break it up and walk in both places. 🙂

 ☁️     🌨     ☁️

Did the usual morning stuff around the house
and then in the afternoon I started the next puzzle.

Thought about getting some Christmas decorations put out
but I didn't do more than think about it.

We had snow on and off all day and now this evening
it has started snowing in earnest.
Maybe by morning we'll have a decent amount.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you.
Thanks for visiting.

...a beautiful area for a winter walk! Our overnight snow left the landscape looking magical.

A dusting of snow surely can dress up the countryside. You really do, as Tom said, "live in a beautiful area for a winter walk!"

I enjoyed seeing the snow on your walk. Looks so pretty. I understand about having to be in the mood for Christmas decorating. I don't even start until I know I'm in the mood or I seem to go round in circles accomplishing nothing.

I so love your photos today...a sprinkling of snow for now. I can't wait to see what you post tomorrow.

The snowy scenes look beautiful. It's nice you have shoes and all the gear to get out in all weather. I got a new pair of hiking shoes today so I can't wait to wear them tomorrow! Take care! Stay warm and safe!

It looks so pretty with a dusting...we have a bit more than a dusting with more coming. I am teasing you, but what were the deer driving?

Glad you got your walk in. Looks like you have a lovely woods to walk in right around your home. Hope you have a good day tomorrow. So glad the Christmas card reached you. I like to get mine out early before the hectic part of the month gets underway. Lots of things on the calendar this month. See you tomorrow!

It doesn't take long for the snow to start changing things.

I think I would prefer walking among the trees to walking in town. Somehow that just seems so peaceful to me.

Maybe the snow will inspire you to put a few Christmas decorations out.

What kind of car were they driving?

God bless.

The road looks pretty with the snow dusting. It must be getting slippery when walking. We used to have spikes to wear in the wintertime when walking, they fit over your shoes or boots and were very efficient.
Have a lovely day!

Looks like our dusting but by now you probably have a good amount on the ground. Nice job sorting out your walk to get in your 6 miles!

Looks like a lovely winter walk and very wise not to walk in unknown areas in hunting season.
