Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

New Snow Sneakers

While waiting for it to get light enough to walk outside
I walked a couple of miles in the basement.
Ken was up by then and we had breakfast.
Afterward I went outside to walk.
It was 25 degrees out with a slight breeze.
We got a little more snow overnight, not much but it did make
for a beautiful walk.
Stayed around the house and walked up and down the lane
a few times.

Yesterday my new snow sneakers came in the mail.
I have a pair of low ones but these new ones are high tops.
They are called snow sneakers because they are good for snow
but feel like sneakers.  Very comfortable, warm and great for long walks.
I could have worn the low ones today but wanted to try out
the new ones.  They are perfect and hopefully I'll be walking many
miles in them.

While out walking the meter reader man drove past and stopped
to talk to me.  Every time I see him he stops.
Nice man but he sure does like to talk!!  🙂

Couldn't see any ice on the trees but when the wind blew
I could hear the branches clicking together.
It makes a really cool sound.

Between inside and outside I walked 6 miles.

Every year there is a big cookie sale over at the Drane house
and I make Welsh Cookies.
Today I baked the first batch of cookies.
Hadn't heard anything about the sale yet this year
so sent Judy an email to find out when it is to be held.
Was very surprised to hear that there will be NO sale this year.
I was disappointed because the sale is amazing.
One good thing though, now we can eat the cookies I baked!  🙂

It was cold cloudy all day with a few snow showers but
no more accumulation.

Spent the day in the house getting a little work done.
Then read, worked on the puzzle
and sewed some more squares together.

I'll be having some of those Welsh Cookies for my snack!!

Until next time......
A happy day to you.
Thanks for stopping by.

He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer
will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter....
In winter the stars seem to have rekindled fires,
the  moon achieves a fuller triumph,
and the heavens wear a look of a more exalted simplicity.

Bill - Not too slippery yet but when it does get icy I use Yaktrax.  They fit over any shoe for traction on the ice.

Nice new snow sneakers. They must be very practical for your climate. I have waterproof runners but sometimes my feet get wet anyway. It's one thing I really mind about walking in winter... cold, wet feet.

...perhaps being a meter reader is lonely job!

Some people talk a lot. I have days, when I'm not working, that I don't say more than fifty words total.

Some days I talk too much. Not today, though.

Most days it is only the two of us, so we talk a lot to each other. You got just enough snow to make pretty pictures... and they are! Your new snow sneakers are good looking and seem to have a wide toe. Are they made by Keen?

I like the looks of your shoes...the dermatologist told us to get curling shoes. Said she got her mom and dad some and they will not wear anything else when it is slick. I can only find them on line...and hate to buy without trying on cause I hate having to return stuff I have bought on line.

Those shoes look comfy and should have good traction in winter weather.

Interesting to learn what snow sneakers are. They do look comfy.
I do remember the yearly cookie sale. Did they say why there would be no sale this year. How disappointing!

I love those snow sneakers. I think I need some of those! I will be looking for those online. Haven't seen anything like that in the stores. I have good boots, but they can be clunky for walking. Too bad about the cookie sale. Why was it cancelled? At least you will have something good to snack on.

As they say, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing! Good for you to get the "tools" you need to continue your walking regime. I wish we had some snow here - I want it and the ski resort really needs it! It is sad they have cancelled the cookie sale - maybe next year?

God bless.

Very nice looking Snow Scenes - if a little on the cold side.

Hello,

Pretty snowy scenes. I've been looking for a good pair of hiking shoes that are weatherproof. That is sad the cookie sale was cancelled.
Wishing you a happy day!

Nice shoes. I have a pair of snow shoes and had them for years. We don’t see much snow here so they are rarely worn. However, they are not sneakers. They are more of a hiking boot.
Enjoy those cookies.

You are such an inspiration and motivator to me, Karen! Enjoy your new snow sneakers, the poem is so beautiful and so true, last evening as I was finishing my walk I looked upward, the sky with the stars were so beautiful.
Have a blessed day.

Wow, snow sneakers. I have never hear of those before.

The snowfall is creating scenes of beauty for you to walk in and enjoy. I had a pair of Yaktrax and they lasted for two seasons before I tried a different kind. The snow sneakers look very comfortable to walk in.
Thanks for sharing part of your day with us and have a wonderful evening.
