Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Warm up

We had quite a warm up overnight and this morning it was 36 degrees
and nothing was falling out of the sky.
Sure was nice to put on those walking shoes and head outside.  πŸ˜ƒ
Left at 7:10 and a couple of minutes later this sky looked like this.
Saw some peeks of blue sky but it soon was gone and it was just cloudy.
Had to be careful walking because there was still some icy patches around.
Walked down the hill to the main road and up the hill to town.
Didn't bother walking in town though because lots of ice around on the side
roads and sidewalks aren't cleared.
So walked back toward home.

After breakfast and doing a few chores around the house
we went down to LaVale to do our food shopping at Walmart.
Usually it is about 10 degrees warmer there than where we live
but it wasn't like that today.
It was 40 degrees when we left here and down in the LaVale it
stayed at 28 the whole time we were there.

Since the last time we were at Walmart, which hasn't been long,
they have turned at least half of the checkouts into self checkouts.
I know some people like the self checkout but I am not one of them
When I do use them something always goes wrong
so I prefer to have a person.

This afternoon I finished sewing up the weave-it squares
and the baby blanket is now finished.
It certainly is colorful.
That's been my day so far.
Now we are off to church.

Hope your day was a good one.

DebbyRay - Not a new restaurant, it's been there quite a while.  The food is very good!!

RT - The building was already there and the church just used it when it was just getting started.  When the church grew they built the building we now use.

What a gorgeous sky!

The baby blanket turned out beautifully! I’m with you, unless I have only two items and the cash, I want a person. I can’t watch prices, bag groceries, check out groceries, and pay up. So annoying!

Glad you were able to get outside. Raining and it seems like it will never stop. I am not a fan of the self check out either.

Those self check-outs are not for me either. As you say, something always goes wrong along the way.
You captured a beautiful sunrise before the cloud moved in.

It was good to see lovely colors show up in your blog today. First the beautiful sunrise and then the lovely, so soft looking baby blanket. I know you were SO happy to get back outside for a walk today.

Wow, your sunrise was beautiful. I have trouble with the self check outs too. Usually something will not wring up or the price is not right. Your blanket is pretty. Have a happy day!

Yippee for outdoor walking. Our Wal-Mart already has all those self checkout areas. I still go to a person even if I have to wait.
Have a great Thursday!

That is a happy blanket! Glad you've had some warmer temps. We are giving our WalMart a break recently because their shelves are always understocked or just vacant - even their coolers! Sad, but such an inconvenience.

What a pretty sky and a pretty little blanket too.
It seems like self check-out is the way things are heading. I avoid them, but Brett loves them. I wonder if the day is coming where we will have no choice.

Gorgeous sunrise and a lovely blanket. I'm not so keen on the self checkout but prefer the third option we have here- You shop with a hand held scanner. You scan each item as you take it off the shelf and put the item straight into your shopping bags. When you've finished you go to a special checkout where you scan a little window and your bill appears on the screen. If you couldn't scan something or you need a security tag taken off clothes there's an assistant to help you. To prevent fraud there are also random checks where the assistant scans some of the items in your bag and it doesn't take long. It's so much quicker when you don't have to take the shopping out of the trolley and then pack your bags. Also you can see how much you are spending as you go along and it's easy to remove an item if you change your mind. For loose fruit and veg there are scales that weigh and price them and print a sticker that you scan.

Love the blanket. Good to get outside and get some vitamin D...and wear out our pup. That's our plan today!
