Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

cookies

22 degrees this morning when I went for my walk.
Light snow falling and no wind.

Stayed around home this morning and walked up the lane
and around Happy Trails.
Just me and the deer.
Walked up my neighbors driveway and back down again.
It is quite a hill but nice coming down.
It is their vacation home so aren't there very often.
Their driveway is on a strip of land between HT and my cow neighbors.
I stopped walking at one point and just watched the snow and it was
so quiet I could hear the slight sound of the snow hitting the trees.
So peaceful.

I baked a double batch of cookies today.
German Chocolate Cookies
My turn to bake for the Wednesday evening service for the teens
at church.
These cookies are really good and I ate two of them.

I know it hasn't been that long since we moved here but
today already I moved furniture around.
It's a fun thing to do for me.

It snowed on and off all day but we only got a few inches.

Leaving a little early to church this evening because we are
stopping off at the library on the way there.
Usually closes at 5:30 but open later to 7:00 on Wednesdays.

Hope your day was a happy one.

"Off to one side sits a group of shepherds.
They sit silently on the floor,
perhaps, perplexed, in awe, no doubt in amazement.
Their night watch had been interrupted
by an explosion of light from heaven
and a symphony of angels.
God goes to those who have time to hear him,
and so on this cloudless night he went to simple shepherds."

I think there is nothing like the quiet that snow brings.

The cookies look great and the recipe seems quite easy.
The fact that you were changing your furniture around already made me smile :)

This is a beautiful beautiful post!! Felt like I was there walking in the snow with you. I used to love moving furniture around. Loved it!! Now it seems like everything is too big to be moved. :) The end of your post, about the shepherds, oh, I just love that. It is very touching, especially, "God goes to those who have time to hear him". Thank you.

Pretty snow scenes.

You must have a strong back due to all your walking. I can't move furniture by myself like I used to.

I love the sound (or more like lack of sound) when I take a walk in the snow. I don't get as much as you but when it comes, I love to walk in it. So lovely and refreshing!

You had me at "Cookies".
Its finally cold here. It was in the 60's last week and has dropped in the 30's this week. It was 24 degrees this morning. They are calling for a big snow this weekend here. If I get snowed in, Im baking some cookies!

Beautiful post. Sounds like a nice day. Love the thought of the snow making tiny sounds. When I hear the story of the scripture you mentioned, I always imagine the silence of the bright star! Have a great weekend!
