62 degrees this morning and a dark rainy one at 7:00.
I didn't walk because I thought the rain might stop by 10:40
and I would just walk into town for the book club meeting
at the library.
But by then it was raining even harder so I just drove there.
Came home with the next book club selection
The Hideaway by Lauren K Denton
Early this morning I got a slow cooker of chili cooking for supper
and made us buttermilk pancakes for breakfast.
After lunch I got more house cleaning done
and baked some fudge brownies.
Thought you might like to see a picture of what Ken has
been doing in his spare time.
Many of you know that he had a huge HO model train layout
in the basement at the old house that he had to take apart because of the move.
Most of it was destroyed and he planned on building another layout
here in the basement.
He planned out the new layout and has started making it.
A lot of the bench work is done, he has put in some track and
even has a train running.
This one is different in that it will be in the middle of the room
so I will be able to walk around the loop for the days I can't walk
outside during the winter.
Walked a few miles around it today to try it out.
I can get in about 100 steps per loop.
Rain should be gone by morning but even if it isn't
I'll still go walking.
Will have a couple of those brownies for my snack tonight,
or maybe one brownie with a bit of ice cream.

Look forward to seeing more of the layout as it develops.
My cousin's husband is into model trains. Also the same sort of thing- the basement is well occupied by it.
My late husband had a smaller train garden set up that he built ; it had a mountain area with a tunnel, an old west town with desert, and a lake area (the lake was a mirror). He ran 2 HO trains around it. we hated to take it down when we moved. Tell Ken "Good Job!"
Wow, now that's a great planned out space for sure.
AWESOME!
...I look forward to seeing the train layout when it is completed.
Chilli sound good.
Coffee is on
I enjoy seeing the building of the layout. I remember when Jake started getting a table ready for the trains.
Brownies sound good with the cold weather setting in.
Though it didn't seem like it at my house, we had a lot of rain. The river nearby was flooded like crazy.
What spare time? 😉 Ken stays busy all the time and has a good start on his project/your bad weather track. Oh a brownie with ice cream sounds heavenly.
Goodness, that is some project. Looks like a nice way to spend cold and drizzly days; staying inside out of the inclement weather and enjoying his hobby.
Brownies are a great choice for a nightly treat :)

Indoor walking. Good idea. Watching the trains go by.
God bless.
I agree with Vee… what spare time? I think you and Ken are the two most efficient people I have ever met. I think your indoor walking route will now be just as scenic as the outdoor ones.
Hello, that looks like it will be a huge train display. Brownie with ice cream, yum!
Enjoy your day and weekend!
I'm trying to find good walking shoes---what do you wear? Thanks!
I've worn quite a few different brands through the years. It seems when I find a good one by the time I need new shoes again the shoes have changed and they are not the same. When I find a pair I like I buy a couple three pair just to have them in stock. I go through a pair in about 3 months or so.
Right now I'm wearing hiking shoes from LL Bean and switch off with a pair of Under Armour walking shoes.
Thanks!
That's exciting that he is getting his train assembled! I can't wait to see what it will look like. Big train sets like that are so cool to see!
