Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Barn Collective and a bit of a mishap

Linking up with Tom for the Barn Collective this week.
Took these pictures last week sometime.
๐Ÿšœ     ๐Ÿšœ
23 degrees this morning when I walked but the sun did come out and there
was no wind so it was actually quite nice out.
Had my usual walk around town though I didn't walk my full 6 miles,
just 5 miles today.
Had to get home so we could go and pick up the car.
That story coming up.
The geese seemed to be enjoying the sun too.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.

Our son David is visiting with us today and he will be staying with us
for an extended visit.  So nice to have him around with us for a while. ๐Ÿ˜Š
We haven't seen him for a little over a year.

Now for the little mishap we had with the car last night.
We left for the evening church service at 6:15 and it was snowing.
Nothing sticking on the roads in town but 20 minutes down the road the
snow was coming down fast and straight at us and sticking on the road
and it was quite slick out.
Came down a hill and had to make a left turn and though we were going
slow we started sliding around the corner and off the road we went
down an embankment between some trees.
Thankfully neither one of us was hurt.
As we were climbing out of the car Dave and Joy who were also on their
way to church stopped to help us.  The police came and said we could leave
the car there and deal with it in the morning.
So we continued on to church with Dave and Joy who also brought
us home again.  They also live in our town.
You can barely see the top of the car in this picture that I took this
morning when we met the tow truck there.
We missed the guard rail and barely missed a couple of trees.
Here is the tow truck pulling the car up out of the ditch.

There was just a little damage to the front right bumper.
I was able to drive the car home without a problem.
We thank God that we weren't hurt, that Dave and Joy were there to
help and that the car wasn't damaged.

This evening I am baking a Blueberry Cheese Cake for tomorrow evening.
So I'd better get to it.

A happy day to you.

Thankful for our safety and having our son David here with us.

So glad you missed the trees! And that your friends arrived just in time. Finally, in Sweden barns have been painted red with white trim for ever. They used to get the red paint from the copper mines in central Sweden.

I'm very thankful you didn't get hurt and the car wasn't badly damaged too. Take care and enjoy your evening! Hugs!

That is a bit more than a little mishap and I am happy no one was injured and the car is ok too with just a bit of damage and still driveable.

...your first shot is 'barn heaven.' What a lovely scene. Around here folks have to relearn how to drive on snow and ice, I see a lot of cars in the ditch. Thanks for stopping by, have a great Thanksgiving.

Glad that wasn't more serious!

So glad to hear that you neither of you were hurt but it is quite a shock and as you say you can be going really slow but if you lose it on the ice the driver is just a passenger until the car comes to a stop.
Have a relaxing week with your son David :)

Yikes, that was a close call. So glad to hear that the guard rail and trees were missed and you and Ken are both safe. That must have been a bit unsettling.
How nice that David will be with you for Thanksgiving. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

I remember almost sliding at about 15mph before, shows how scary it can be sometimes.

Thank God you weren't hurt. Looking at the trees and the rail where you went off the road it could have been so much worse. What a blessing that your son is spending time with you. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK but I'm sure that it was extra special for you this year. I've only slipped a few feet on ice with my car but even those experiences were scary enough.

So thankful The Lord kept you from serious harm & injury! I have had similar scares though when my three kids were tiny & we had kind people take care of the situation.
I love seeing the countryside & barns around your town!

Glad the outcome was minor even though the event must have scared you to death at the time. Nothing like losing control of a car. Worst feeling ever.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm so thankful you and your husband are safe! Even though you were going slowly, that's a steep bank, and those trees could have been a danger. Very thankful for God's safe hands around you.
