Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A hole in the ground

The town pond now has the fountain turned on.
 A closer look.
55 degrees this morning and cloudy after a night of rain.
Had a nice walk around town and met up with Kathy and walked
around the cemeteries with her before she left and I continued
walking some more.

Wasn't concerned making all 6 miles this morning and just walked 5.5
miles because I knew I'd be taking a walk later in the morning.

Found my first coin of the month, a penny.
🚶     🚶
Ken was already up at Happy Trails when I got back from walking.
I ate and did a few things around the house and then walked up to HT.

From driveway to new driveway is 2.5 miles.
I walked in my walking shoes and carried my work boots in a bag.
Pretty muddy around the site and regular shoes just wouldn't work.

Before I arrived they marked out where the house would be and
squared it all up and the digging had already started.
Pictures of today's work.
This is how it looked at the end of the day.  The corner still has to be dug
out and then for the garage.  That should be done tomorrow.
It looked like rain all day but it never did.
Amazing watching the men on those machines work.
Nice living so near that we are able to watch it all.
Today work quit at 5:00.

A happy day to you.

...remember, digging holes is the only job where you start at the top and work your way down!

Nice dirt! Wondering if you are putting a basement in or does it need to be so deep for stability?

Digging foundation going well! Yes!

The hole is looking like a lot of progress! I have a friend building a new home. She let her kids, family and friends write bible verses and prayers and the wall beams before the walls are put in. This was also a lesson to the kids of what a good foundation is really built on.

Fun to see all the progress! I think, if one followed the dog's lead as suggested in the quote, one would find herself right back home in a while. Congrats on that penny!

That is fun that you live close enough to walk up there and watch them work on the house! There's nothing more fun than watching a house go up. What a massive hole? I'm assuming you'll have a basement? Can't wait to see it all!
