Another Foggy Morning

🍁     🍁     🍁
Another foggy morning walk with a temperature of 58 degrees.
Took a little longer for the sun to break through but it finally did
after I got home and we had a sunny day.
A random walk for me today all over town.
I saw Cathy emerge out of the fog walking up the hill to the cemetery
and turned around and walked around it again with her and then on to the
other cemetery.

As Cathy and I walk and talk we realize that we have more and more in
common and we are becoming more than just walking friends.  😊

Walked 6.2 miles
🍁     🍁     🍁
After getting a load of laundry hung out on the line and supper
cooking in the slow cooker Ken and I went and
got some errands done down in Oakland.
Had lunch while we were out too.

After unloading the groceries and putting them away, we went up to HT
to the building site to see what was accomplished today.
The floor joists were delivered.  Truck couldn't make it up the driveway
so they unloaded them here on the sides of it.
With these joists we won't have to have any pillars in the basement
and it will all be open.
The footings for the garage were poured the other day and today
the block was completed.
Picture taken from the back corner of the
house and the garage is in the shadow.
We've just finished eating supper and will soon be leaving for church.

May you have a happy day.

Hit Water

🍁     🍁     🍁
This morning was a lot like yesterday.  68 degrees with patches of fog
and sunny after a couple of miles.
Walked behind my house again and up Sale Barn.
Continued around one of the cemeteries which I walked with Cathy,
and then through town and around the ball park loop.
Two deer came running out of the corn field again and I saw the
usual rabbits.  Milo the cat was out at the child care center in town
and came over to get a pet.

Walked 6.2 miles
🍁     🍁     🍁
Went up to the building site in the morning to watch the well getting drilled.
I said a little prayer not only that we would hit water but that it would
happen at 200 feet.  Our Pastor is always saying pray for specific things.
So I did and some of you won't be surprised to hear that right at 200 feet
we hit water!!  😊 Thank you God!!
They drilled another 80 feet just to give us a good reservoir of water.
It gives us 22 gallons a minute which is excellent.  2 gallons is considered good.
 Here's the well capped off.
It sure is great to have well done! 😊

We took a picnic lunch up to HT and I took along a book to read and
knitting.  Didn't get any reading done but I did do a little knitting.
🍁     🍁     🍁
This is the bird feeding place in my back yard.
A little chipmunk is there in the picture.
I guess that's it for today.
A happy day to you.

Well Drilling

🍁     🍂     🍁

The temperature was 58 degrees this morning with some patchy fog around.
That didn't last long and there was plenty of sunshine after a couple miles.

Walked behind my house to start.  There are street lights and no traffic there
and by the time I'm walking down the main road outside of town
it is pretty light out.

Walked up Barn Sale a ways and then back to town and around both
cemeteries before heading back home.

Lisa was out running and I walked around one of the cemeteries with Cathy.

Walked 6.2 miles
🍁     🍂     🍁
I was at home all morning doing house chores and went up to the
building site after lunch.
Block was delivered for the garage but work won't start till
probably Wednesday.

Drilling for the well started today which is very exciting.
They drilled 60 feet of it so far and will be back tomorrow.
Very curious to know how deep down they will have to go to find water.
One neighbor they had to go down 700 feet but another neighbor had
water after 240 and still another at 50 so who knows.  My guess,
and it is just a hopeful guess, is 200 feet.  The more they have to drill,
the more it costs.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to tell you how deep the well is.
That's it for today.
A happy day to you.

Saturday

🍁     🍂     🍁

This morning I had a quiet random walk around town.
It was a  beautiful sunny morning and 55 degrees.

Walking around one of the cemeteries I saw four deer come out of the corn field.  Two adults and two little ones.
I thought for sure a couple driving around town was going to stop and ask me for directions but they never did.  They passed me a few times after turning around.
The wife probably said, why don't we stop and ask that walker for directions,
and he said no, I know where I'm going.  😊

The town pond is started to look better now.  Nice with the fountain in it and I noticed along the edges of the pond some cattails coming back and there is some yellow flowers around too.
Walked 6.2 miles

🍁     🍂     🍁
I did some laundry and when I went to hang it up outside saw that some
animal and chewed through two of the lines and several pieces of the
line was on the ground.  Maybe squirrels or chipmunks getting nesting material?
Ken had my lines fixed in no time and my wash was blowing in the breeze.

This afternoon I finally got the lawn mowed for this week.
Probably won't have to do that chore too many more times this year.
I was going to do a little more cutting of the dead daisies
and pulling weeds but ended up sitting in the swing.
It was like a summer day here this afternoon.

A happy day to you.

Morning Sky

No fog this morning and we had a beautiful sunrise.
 🍃     🍁     🍂
This morning it was  55  degrees when I started out on my morning walk
and a mix of sun and clouds.

A random walk around town today.
Saw Lisa running up by one of the cemeteries
and walked around the other cemetery with Cathy a couple of times.

She left and then I continued walking a bit more before going home.

Only saw two rabbits today but they were BIG ones.

Walked 6 miles
🍃     🍁     🍂
Didn't get much done today, but you need a day like that every once in a while.
😊
Didn't take any pictures of the house today but the garage footings
are all poured and Monday they will do the block.

A happy day to you.

A split walk

🌺     🌺     🌺
Yesterdays pictures of the progress on the house.
Foundation block of 14 courses done.
Looking at the back
Looking at the front.
Big opening is for French doors walking out of the basement.

60 degrees and another foggy morning today when I walked.
Had a quick walk around town, just walked a little over 3 miles.
Part of it walking with Cathy.  Just learned she is a  C Cathy not a K.

Once I was home we had breakfast and then I went up to the building site
at HT with Ken.
Excavating for the foundation of the 3 car garage was getting started.
I stayed around watching and walking around a bit for an hour or so
and then walked back home which gave me my 6 mile walk for the day.
Took this picture as I left the driveway
and this one as I rounded the curve to walk down the hill.
Doesn't look like much in the picture but it is pretty steep walking.
Once I was back home did a couple of things around the house and Ken
was home at lunchtime.
We both went back after lunch.
The excavating for the garage footing is now done and awaits the inspector before
the concrete can be poured.

The posts for the porch was excavated also.
Exciting to be getting a nice big porch.
I like to walk around watching what is going on, other times I go
hiking around Happy Trails, and other times I just sit up here where I have a
good vantage point and watch.
Nice to see things moving along at a good pace.
It still seems like a dream to be able to build this house in the woods.
How blessed we are.

A happy day to you.

Day 3 of block

🍃     🍁     🍂
This morning the temperature was 60 degrees and when the sun came up
there was a mix of sun and clouds.

Had one of my random walks all over the place.

While walking around one of the cemeteries there was a man putting
flowers on a grave and we got to talking.
Every once in a while he stops and puts flowers on a grave of his
friends daughters grave.  She died back in 2003 when she was just
12 years old.  His friends have moved away so he puts the flowers
on her grave for them and then takes a picture and sends it to them.

Most days people who see me walking all the time will toot the horn
and wave as they pass me.  Today they all must have been out because
I was waving to people all over the place.  👋

Walked 6.4 miles
🍃     🍁     🍂
Ken up at HT building site this morning when I got back walking.
That seems to be his new routine.
Me at home in the morning doing laundry and other chores.
Weather has been nice for hanging the wash out.
Today it's the sheets.

Ken came home for lunch and we didn't go back
because it was bowling day. 🎳
There were  7 of us bowling today.
Not one of my better bowling days,
116, 112, and 132 in that order but as always it was fun.
After bowling we went out for supper again, this time to Ledo's.

Leaving Ledo's we drove directly up to the building site to see the
progress for today.
Took these pictures.

 That's it for today.
A happy day to you. 🎈

Debbie - move in date for the new house they say February, BUT it all depends on the weather.  Hoping to have it roofed by the time the snow comes.  Then they will be able to work inside.

Day 2 of block

🍂     🍁     🍃
Once again I started walking in the fog and
it was 53 degrees and dark.
The sun broke out after a while and I ended up walking in the sunshine.
Walked behind my house, through town and down toward HT,
back through town, around the ball park and one of the cemeteries.

Saw a deer with her two fawns, spotted the heron again by the pond,
and saw a killdeer there too.

Kathy's car was parked in the parking lot but I never did see her walking.
Walked 6.2 miles
🍂     🍁     🍃
Ken was up at HT at the building site again when I got back from my walk.
I went to the Stop and Shop and picked up a few things.
There were only a handful of people in the store and everyone was very friendly.
All smiling and saying good morning.
Nice to be around happy people.  😊

Did a few things around the house until lunch time when Ken came home.
After lunch I went back to the building site with him to see what was going on.
The last load of block was delivered and
the guys (5 of them today) were busy working on the block.
When they left this is what it looked liked.
From up top
Down inside

Out for supper tonight at Brenda's.
Home this evening for knitting, reading, and watching Netflix.

Debbie - I will be walking on some of the same roads but there will be different ones too.  It will be 2 miles to town so I can walk to town, around town for 2 miles and then back home for the last 2 miles.  I'll also be able to head out in the other direction but there are a lot of steep hills!!  I'll just explore different routes when I get there.  Also I'll have some trails to walk along right on our land.  Won't be able to walk early in the winter because it is really dark without any street lights.  I'll just have to adjust the times.

Saturday

🍁     🍁
Another foggy morning with the sun coming out after a while.
It was 58 degrees.

Since it was Saturday and no one going to work at the industrial park
I headed over that way for my walk and walked all around there.
It seems all the rabbits from town decided to meet up there.
I lost count of how many I saw in the IP.

Left there and when I walked past my house I stopped
and dropped off my sweatshirt.  Once the sun made an appearance was warm out.

Continued my walk up one side of town and down the other
before completing my 6 mile walk.
Found 2 pennies
As most early Saturday mornings it was very quiet and peaceful around town.
🍁     🍁
Did a few chores around the house and late morning we went up to
Happy Trails to the house site.
Took along a picnic lunch and had lunch up there.

Wilbur came and hauled the rest of the trees away.
We mostly played with the fire, keeping it going by throwing brush into it.
Ken turned on the leaf blower and blew air in at the bottom of the fire
pile and it sure got a good fire going.
Here's the pile still smoldering away.
I took a walk out in the back yard.
It was nice hanging around up at HT and enjoying the day.

A happy day to you.

Foundation Work Begins

🍃     🍃
55 degrees this morning and foggy though the fog did burn off.

Another random walk all around town.
Met up with Kathy around one of the cemeteries and we walked around
there together.  It was so foggy I didn't see her at first.
If you enlarge this photo you might be able to see the two horses there in the fog.
While I walked Ken went up to the building site to see if work had started.
On his way home he saw me walking and stopped to tell me they were already
there and working at 7:00.

 Walked 6 miles
🍃     🍃
Mid morning we went to the building site.
This was the work that was already done when we got there.
Seven guys worked on the block and at the end of the work day at 3:00
this is what they got done.  I think they did a great job.
We watched them work for a while.
Then threw branches into the pile of burning brush that will probably
burn for days yet.

It is so exciting to see what Ken put down on paper turning into the real thing.

Now we will enjoy a nice quiet evening at home.

A happy day to you.

Christine - The county does the road maintenance and the sign is indicating that the county road ends there and they are not responsible beyond that point.  Beyond that is private property and the people who live there have to take care of it.
