Looking at this sky this morning during my walk I thought for sure it would rain,
but it never did.
The corn is big enough now to hear the wind blowing through it
and what a great sound it is.

- I sew the weave-it squares together
with a tapestry needle lining the little loops up. I sew them into rows and then the rows get sewn
together. The loose ends get weaved into the square. If you click on the link at the bottom of the posts
'Weave-its' you will see some of the big afghans I've made. The ones that
I've made have my name on them. There is also a picture of the loom
that my grandfather made.
BettyC - Yes, we will be able to see the road from the porch though we will have lots of trees in the front yard too. We will clear enough out to have some sun at least in the front. Don't want to have any grass though.
Didn't make a conscious decision to downsize just building a house that fits our needs and a big house is not what we need. We have always moved a lot and enjoy moving. I can't even imagine living in the same house for 45 years!!😊
Connie - Not a close neighbor, its about a mile from my house.

66 degrees this morning and cloudy for walking.
Walked behind my house, around the ball park loop, both cemeteries and
down toward Happy Trails.
Down by the Drane house I snapped this picture of a man
taking pictures of the Drane garden.
I saw a heron fly over head and land on the tippy top of a tree over by the
town pond. I bet it has been a year since I last saw one here.
Not a great picture but was glad I was able zoom in and get this silhouette.
Ruth Anne who works at pubic works in town was driving by the pond as I
was walking past and she stopped to say hi and I learned a few things
about the pond. They are NOT dredging it like I thought.
It will no longer be a place to fish - they won't be stocking it any more.
A pump is to be installed to keep the algae out.
She said the state fees to have a fishing pond have gotten too costly.
(I didn't even know you had to pay a fee)
They got rid of the cattails because no one liked them there.
I told her that I always liked them and have taken many pictures of the cattails
and of the red winged black birds perched on them.
She told me that I was the only one she ever heard say that!!!
They have been trying to get rid of them for the last 3 years.
I'm hoping they grow back. 😊
Kathy was in town walking again but didn't pass by her.
Walked 6.4 miles

The ATV was ready for pick up after being serviced so we went down
to LaVale again to pick it up.
Dropped the ATV off at Happy Trails and then we drove it down to thefuture building site and walked around there a while.
Before coming home we went to Katie's for ice cream cones.
We have driven past that place for the past 3 years and never once
went there. This year we've been there quite a few times already.
By the way it is 4 years ago today that we moved into our house here in town.
That sure went fast!!
No time for supper so that ice cream will have to be my supper.
Soon I'll head out the door to walk to the library for my book club
and then on to church.
Life is Good
A happy day to you.

Enter not into the path of the wicked and go not in the way of evil men.
Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

...your sky and the corn looks like what I see!
I've never seen a heron in person
That is a nice shot of the Heron. We see them here, sometimes.
That is a serious picture taker there! I'd love to see how his photos turn out. Couldn't be better than yours! ☺️
I had looked at those the other day and wondered who which were yours...I did not know your name. (Just know you as Happy One) I have got to say that one of your Weave-it blankets reminds me of one of my quilts.
As to cattails....I have always had a fondness for them...I am with you and sort of hope they grow back.
I love seeing herons.
Gosh 3 years driving past an ice cream shop, you certainly have a lot of ice creams to eat to catch up with all the ones missed!
Have a great weekend :)
Hello, Happy-K! I have done volunteer bird surveys the last two years for the National Park service, and one of my plots this year is deep in a corn field. The corn is 8 feet tall and it is miserable going through it to get to the middle of the field where there is a randomly selected bird plot. I was there yesterday. I'm with you - I like cattails with red-winged blackbirds on them. You are right, four years goes by in a flash. Hard to believe! I'll be retiring in nine months and although that seems far off, I know that it will vanish like smoke. Carpe Diem!
What a great shot of the heron!
Hello, I like the corn field and the heron. Ice cream for dinner sounds yummy. That is weird about the fee to fish at the pond. The blanket is looking pretty. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
Great post.. it was fun to read all the goings~on, and to see your pictures, as always.
We've had the threat of rain here, for the past 3 day, though not one drop of rain, sadly.
Have a great rest of your week.
~K.
I'm now wondering what it is about cattails that people don't like. Like you, I would be hate to see them go.
We had a heron in our yard last week. Had to scare him away as he was eyeing the goldfish.
I never met a cornfield I didn't like, especially one that speaks to me. :D
What a beautiful cornfield and wonderful picture of the heron xx
You take such great fotos... wish you'd join our FFF! 💜 the pic of the crane. Hope you have a great weekend!
I love your photos of the countryside....Love you too!
