Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Goal accomplished! and yellow watermelon?

Took this picture on my walk this morning just before it rained.
🎈     🎈
Never got around to posting yesterday (Friday), it was a fun but busy day.
Got up early just like the day before walked 6.3 miles.
It was a bit foggy when I started but wasn't long before the sun was
shining brightly.
The baby geese are getting pretty big.
We spent another day at church doing Fingerprints.
I am happy to say we made our goal of 20,000 books.
We finished at 4:15 yesterday afternoon, 5 hours earlier that we had figured.
We had to call people who said they would be working at night to tell
them they didn't have to come.
Charlie, one of the men at church came in with a watermelon to share with us.
This watermelon was different than any watermelon I've ever eaten or seen.
It was yellow!!
All of us thought it tasted better than a pink watermelon.  It is not quite as watery as
a pink one and it is sweeter and has no seeds.
It sure was good.

There were 11 of us at the end of the day when we finished the work and we
decided to eat supper at Denny's to celebrate.
We had a fun time talking and laughing and eating too.

 Saturday
This morning I slept in till 6:45.  By 7:00 I was out walking.
It was 52 degrees, with a mix of sun and clouds,
so I was a bit surprised to see the sky darken and hear thunder.
Then the rain came.
I took refuge under the overhang by the bakery/deli till it let up
a bit and then continued walking.
Ken showed up in the car with a sweatshirt and umbrella for me (isn't he nice?)
but the clouds were already breaking up and the sun was coming out.
So I said thanks but I'd just dry out while I walked and that's what I did.
By the time I was home it was sunny and I was dry.

Walked through town, around the cemeteries, and the ball park loop.
Then walked through town again, up Barn Sale a ways and then headed home.
This picture I took in one of the cemeteries of on of the Red Winged Black birds.
This year there are so many of them around.
 Walked 6.2 miles
🎈     🎈
It was a beautiful sunny day the rest of the day, with a nice cool breeze
and temperatures in the high 60's, it may have reached 70.
So it was a good day to get caught up on some yard work.
Got some more weeding done, mowed the lawn, and planted  some more petunias.

A load of laundry was blowing gently in the breeze in the back yard too.
It was great to be out side enjoying the day.

Life is Good.
A happy day to you.

Vee - You're right I don't complain about the dogs, just let it go.

Diana - Happy Trails is 2 miles from the beginning of town, so one of my walks will probably be to town, 2 miles around town and then 2 miles back to the house.  Lots more hills to walk up and down when we move.

They are rare, in Japan they have square watermelon which is grown in a glass box

Yellow watermelon! I've not seen that. I'll have to keep an eye out. Congrats for making your fingerprints goal. That is a lot of booklets. Have a blessed Sunday.

I was going to ask if Charlie grew the yellow watermelon, but I'm sure it's much to early for that. How interesting that it tasted better than the pink ones.
I don't see redwing blackbirds around here very often, so I enjoyed seeing yours.

My brother who lives in Oho grew these yellow watermelons in his garden at one time. You are right, they are VERY sweet and delicious!
