Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Barn Collective

Once again I'm linking up with Tom for his Barn Collective Series.
I pass this barn along the Farm Loop that I walk.
These quilt squares are  not on a barn but is listed as one of the
barn quilts in Garrett County.
These Blazing Star squares have reversed colors.
The squares are on the Mountain Fresh Farmers Market Pavilion in Oakland,
located  by the town parking lot off 2nd Street and Town Park Lane.

This morning it was 35 degrees and cloudy and I walked the Town Route.

Finally saw someone else out too, Lisa was running.
Walking down by the Drane house I saw a Blue Bird, don't see many of them here.
It flew right past me so didn't have a chance to get a picture.

I've seen these two geese here at the pond by the Drane house for
the last three days.  One is always sitting there and the other standing
on one leg.  Maybe she is sitting on eggs? and I'm thinking maybe he just has one leg.
I'll have to keep on eye on them.
Walked 6.2 miles
Found a dime
On yesterdays walk found a dime and a penny

Ken and I spent the day down in LaVale doing some errands.
I got a new pedometer, finally got a Fitbit.  I got the Charge 2 model which
I wear on my wrist and its purple.
I got the Fitbit at Kohl's.  Had a 30% off coupon and another one
for $5 off so got a good deal on it!!

Walked around Ollie's and came out with a few books.
One was a cookbook with some unique ways to make meatloaf
that I thought would be fun to try.
You'll have to click to enlarge if you want to read it about it.
I also got a new pair of walking shoes and will tell you about them
tomorrow after I've walked in them.

Stopped at the library on the way home and picked up a book that I had on hold.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you.

A couple more money facts.
  • It costs more than a penny to make a penny.  According to the U.S. Mint it costs roughly 1.7 cents per coin.
  • The bald eagle on your money may have a name.  From 1830 to 1836, a certain bird swooped into Philadelphia's U.S. Mint building so often that workers named him Peter the Mint Eagle, cared for him, and allegedly used him as a model for coin engravings for years after.

Fascinating trivia. I hope that we stop making pennies if it costs that much! We'll save a fortune. You have lots of nice new things...you need the walking shoes and do let us know how you like your Fitbit.

The geese are handsome, aren't they?

The red barn and white snow make for a great picture. I have often seen geese stand on one leg.I guess it must be comfortable for them.

Hope your new walking shoes are comfortable ... enjoy your Fitbit!

All the best Jan

I really like the bright, red color of that barn.

I have the Fitbit Alta and while I don't walk anywhere near what you do, I'm finding it to be a great motivator to get me moving. I'll be anxious to hear how you like yours. Also interested to hear about your new shoes and any future meat loaf recipes you turn out.

They got rid of their penny in Canada. Same story except they were smart about it

Hi Karen, Adam was ahead of me telling you we no longer have a penny. I still find it very strange! All prices are rounded up or down.
Lovely quilts today. Great place to have them, so many people can enjoy them.
Have a good day!

THe first barn is so pretty in your photo! The quilt squares are a very nice addition to the farmers' market too!
Have a great day!

Thank you, Karen, for sharing the picture of the structure that has the quilt squares on it. That is so unique.

The geese have been flying over here quite often the last few weeks. There is a beaver pond back in behind where we live (not on our property) and the geese normally go back there to lay their eggs and hatch them. I love geese!

Very interesting about Peter the Mint Eagle. I loved how he kept coming back and then how the employees took care of it. Congratulations on the money you found...and it looks as if you had a good day in LaVale.

I can imagine you need to replace your walking shoes more often than most. Lovely barns in the snow!
