Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Barn Collective

A couple of barns of the many we pass on the way to church.

Linking up with Tom for his Barn Collective series.
Why not join us and post a barn picture too.

 Everything is fine and dandy
just taking a bit of a blog break.
Be back soon.
By the way this post is number 2,786.

I'm reading Belgrave Square by Anne Perry
and wrote down a quote from the book that I liked.

"Too much happiness is lost because we spend our time
regretting the past and seeking for the future
and miss what we are given for the moment at hand.
The gift to be happy is a blessing to all around."

It is Saturday

🌻     🌻     🌻
This morning it was 55 when I started out walking at 6:30
and it was cloudy once it was light out.

Walked the Town Route.
It seemed very quiet this morning as I walked.
No school buses and didn't see the the usual people who give me a toot
as they drive past on there way to work.
I guessed the kids were starting spring break and had no school.
Then it hit me.  IT IS SATURDAY.

The horses down by the Drane house have been in the barn lately
but today they were out and came over to say hi.
Saw a few rabbits chasing each other about and there
were lots of birds singing too.

Walked 6.4 miles
Found a dime
🌻     🌻     🌻
Didn't see much of the sun today but it was nice and warm in the 50's.
We went up to Happy Trails for a few hours this afternoon.

Here's the latest picture of the road Ken is making by the side of the shed.
He still has quite a lot of rocks to add to the wall yet
and collected some more rocks for it today.
Ken has gone to church for supper tonight.
It's the men's Steak Out Night.
Grilling steaks and baking potatoes.

I did what I usually to when Ken isn't home for supper.
I made pancakes for my supper - chocolate chip ones.
I do enjoy my pancakes!!

A happy day to you.

I thought this was so funny.

After  moving to the country, my three-year old daughter and I
were often home alone in our house.
Because we lived in a rural area with no close neighbors,
I wanted to make sure she would be able to call 911
in the event that something happened to me.
After instructing her, I decided to test her:
"OK, what would you do if you found me on the floor
and you couldn't wake me up?"
I could see her little brain working.
To my surprise, she said,
"I would go into the kitchen and eat anything I want."

A spring day

Rain was forecast this morning so at 6:15 when I woke up I was not surprised
to see it pouring down rain and of course dark.  Just didn't feel like walking in the
rain so I waited until later in the morning to walk when the rain had stopped.

Glad I waited because when I walked at 9:00 the rain had stopped
and it was 44 degrees.
Didn't have my camera with me so these couple of pictures are taken
with my phone.

Since it was later and the kids were already in school and I didn't
have to share the road (no sidewalk) with the school buses
I walked the Farm Loop.
Nice to be walking the Farm Loop for a change, it's been a while.
During the summer it is the route I walk most days.

The silos on this barn looked like they are about to topple over.
Back to town I made a loop around town and then home.
Walked 6 miles.
🌻     🌸     🍃
In the afternoon the sun came out and though there was a bit of a breeze
it was near 70 degrees.
Went outside and did a bit of yard work.
Got my 8 square plots in the vegetable garden cleaned out.
Ken helped me move some logs around to expand our little back
yard meadow.  This year I plan on planting some wildflowers in it.

The day has been delightful (I like that word 😊) and
so nice to actually have a spring day.

A happy day to you.

A chilly start

🌺     🌺     🌺
I was surprised this morning by the cold temperature.
Only 14 degrees. (-10 C)
BUT there was no wind and the sun came out.

Down by the town pond there have been some red winged black birds
there for a while now and today I was happy to be able to get a picture of one.
No route again and just walked all over town, up and down all the streets
and around both cemeteries and the ball park loop.

I saw Kathy's car parked by the pond but we never ran into each other.

Felt bad for the guys working on the roof of the church in this
cold weather.

As always nice to be able to get outside for a morning walk.
Walked 6 miles
🌺     🌺     🌺
Had a quick breakfast, got ready and left for church for a day
of doing Fingerprints.  People come and go during the day, but there
were about 20 of us there working.
We got just under 4,000 assembled and cut.

Ken and I were the last to leave at 4:30.
Stopped on the way home at Brenda's for supper because I didn't
feel like cooking.

The temperature warmed up in the 40's and was sunny all day.
Nice to be home now for a nice quiet evening.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Cold but sunny

A log truck.
We see quite a few of these come rolling through town.
 🎈     🎈     🎈
A chilly morning at 24 degrees with a bit of a wind.
I was very happy to see and feel the sun come up over the mountain.
My usual walk all over town and now that the snow is gone I can walk around
around both cemeteries again.
The cemetery by the Drane house has had a bird nest in the one corner
and today I noticed another one that was just put up in the other corner.
There were swallows in the one last year.
Another quiet morning around town, no one else out walking or running.

Walked 6.2 miles
Found 2 pennies
🎈     🎈     🎈
I did check into the Detective Murdoch books by Maureen Jennings
and though none of the libraries around here have them the library
can get them so I put the first one on reserve.
Except the Dying

We drove down to LaVale this morning to do a couple of errands.

This afternoon we started another puzzle.  There are just three more
left to do from the ones Ken got at the auction and then
I'll be done puzzling until next winter.

Got a bit of work done around the house too and did some
reading.

A happy day to you.

Driving down to Va.

This is the last snow picture from my walk on Sunday.
Hopefully we won't be getting anymore snow but you can never tell.
🌺     🌺     🌺
It's been a busy day.  Left the house at 7:00 and went to church and
picked up the trailer with the finished Romans books and
then went to Staunton, Va to drop them off.
It's 170 miles from home.
The man we were meeting there was tied up and was about an hour late
meeting us there.
I ended up going for a short walk up the road while waiting.
Saw a couple of Killdeers and was able to get a better picture than
the one I took the other day.
This is the new pallet we picked up and brought back to church
and Thursday we will start to assemble this bunch.  There are 20,000
on a pallet and so it will take us a while to get them all done over the
coming months.
Ken got to drive the fork lift.
It was his first time and he did quite well.
On the way home we stopped at a place called Factory Antiques Mall in VA
and they claim to be 'America's Largest Antique Mall.....and still growing.'
I think they may be right.  It is the largest one I've ever seen and
was so big it was overwhelming.
It has 130,000 square feet of antiques all on one floor.
We didn't stay very long but you could spend every day there for a week
and still not see everything.

We left there and got back to church and unloaded the trailer,
picked up a pizza for supper at Little Caesar's and headed home.
After we ate the pizza I went for little walk around town because I was low on
steps today from being in the car so long.

Now I'm off to sit in my chair, eat some ice cream
and watch a Murdoch Mystery.
Probably don't have time to visit with you today
but I'll catch up tomorrow.

A happy day to you.

Comment Replies:
Rose - That's funny that we did the same puzzle. : )  Yes, I have done one of those mosaic ones, but only one.   The wolf one you are about to do does look hard.  Good luck with it.

Vee - No, the library here in town does not have puzzles to check out.  All these puzzles we have been doing this winter are the ones that Ken got at the auction that he goes to on Friday mornings.  There must have been 20 of them and he got them all for just a few dollars.  That is why some of them have missing pieces and it's no big deal when I toss them.

Dianna - Thanks for the traveling prayers. We are home safe and sound.  : )

Barn Collective

Linking up again this Monday with Tom for the Barn Collective.
I suppose this is a bit small for a barn and looks more like a shed
but still, I like it there behind the trees.
🌺     🌺     🌺
From yesterday's morning walk.
🌺     🌺     🌺
This morning it was 32 degrees and cloudy when I head out walking.
No ice around so I got to wear my regular walking shoes.

No special route just walked all around town.
One of the cemeteries and the ball park loop still has snow so
couldn't walk around them.
Walked up Barn Sale Rd a ways and then down toward HT.

After the last few snowy days work on the church roof has resumed.
There are some pretty steep roof pitches and as I walked by I said
a prayer to keep the workers safe.

Didn't see anyone else out walking or running.
Walked 6.2 miles
🌺     🌺     🌺
Right after breakfast we went to church and loaded up the church
trailer with the Romans books from Fingerprints that we helped
put together.  Ken got the load secured and ready for tomorrow
when we will be bringing them down to Staunton, Virginia.
The return trip we will be bringing a pallet of scriptures that have
to be assembled and cut.

On the way home we stopped at Tractor Supply to look around.
Lots of cute little chicks awaiting homes.
Bought a suet feeder and a block of suet for a treat for
my backyard birds.  If they like it I'll get some more.
Finished the Fox puzzle.  Unfortunately it had one piece missing
so into the garbage it went.
We did see some sun today and it did warm up too.
It almost feels like spring today on the first day of spring.

A happy day to you.

Tell it to Jesus

One of the Hymns we sang at church this morning.

Tell it to Jesus
By Jeremiah Eames Rankin

1. Are you weary, are you heavyhearted?
Tell it to Jesus,
Tell it to Jesus,
Are you grieving over joys departed?
Tell it to Jesus alone.

Chorus
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus,
He is a friend that's well-known;
You've no other such a friend or brother,
Tell it to Jesus alone.

2. Do the tears flow down your cheeks unbidden?
Tell it to Jesus,
Tell it to Jesus;
Have you sins that to men's eyes are hidden?
Tell it to Jesus alone.

3. Do you fear the gath'ring clouds of sorrow?
Tell it to Jesus,
Tell it to Jesus;
Are you anxious what shall be tomorrow?
Tell it to Jesus alone.

4.  Are you troubled at the thought of dying?
Tell it to Jesus,
Tell it to Jesus;
For Christ's coming kingdom are you sighing?
Tell it to Jesus alone.

Philippians 4:6, 7, 19

6.  Be CAREFUL  for NOTHING; but in EVERY thing by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known unto God.

7. And the PEACE of GOD, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

10. But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Jesus Christ.

A Blessed Sunday to you all.
Jesus Loves You

Visitors at the feeder

A picture from yesterday's walk
🌻     🌻     🌻
It warmed up over night and in the morning when I walked it was 37 degrees.
A very light misty rain was falling but it soon stopped and was just cloudy.

No route again just walk all over town.  The icy spots from yesterday
have all turned to slush.

This is the vegetable and herb garden down by the Drane house.
In the spring it will cleaned up and be growing.
Last year I helped weed it and get it spruced up.
Will probably help out again this year.
While walking I heard a noise and looked to see a whole roof of snow
come sliding down off a barn.  It was cool to watch but glad I
wasn't underneath it.

No one else out again.
I am thankful to be able to be outside walking.
Walked 6.2 miles
🌻     🌻     🌻
Lots of birds out back at the feeders today.
At one time I saw a woodpecker, 2 mourning doves, a blue jay, a few sparrows,
a couple finches, and a crow.
Also visiting were chickadees and cardinals.
Got a picture of the woodpecker.
Didn't realize I got the sparrow too until I downloaded the picture.
Ken did some work up at HT in the wood shop in the morning and I
got a few things done around the house.

Then after lunch we went out and did a few errands down in Oakland.

A happy day to you.

Update on my Mom.
My Mom has pneumonia now and is not doing so good.  Her heart is getting worse and her body is starting to shut down.  They are keeping her comfortable at this point.
I know that Heaven awaits her and my prayer for her is that God takes her home quickly.

Walking Outside

🍀     🍀     🍀
So nice to get up and not see snow falling from the sky.
14 degrees, no wind and the sun came out.
So nice be outside walking and feeling the sun on my face.

Got a picture of the killdeer by the pond.
Not a very good one because I had to zoom in.
Brrrr he must be cold standing in the water.
Walked around town, but since there were lots of icy patches I
couldn't walk down all the roads so just walked where it wasn't so icy.
Avoided the main street in town and walked on the side road out of town
and up Sale Barn Road.
Up Sale Barn
At the top
Walking back down
Back town and walked the roads behind by house and then back home.
No one else out walking.
By the time I got home in was is the 20's.
Walked 6.2 miles
🍀     🍀     🍀
Ken is gone for the day so I'm just puttering about the house.

I got my new Striiv in the mail today.  My old one is still working but I just
wanted to get another for a spare because I'm afraid they are going to stop
making the kind that I like.

It's been a pretty nice day with clouds and sun and I wandered
about the yard a bit
but by supper time it was snowing again.

A happy day to you.

Old Window

This was taken on Sunday when I was out walking.
 🍀     🍀     🍀
Guess what?
Woke up, looked out of the window and you guessed it
more snow coming down
and another day of getting my steps inside.
By the way, once my month of exercise class with the Balancing Ball
ended I decided not to go back to the fitness center.
It sounded like a great idea and I was excited about it
but it's just not for me.
Besides on these days when I could use it, it is closed because
of the weather.
🍀     🍀     🍀
I had this old window frame sitting around and for the longest time
I've wanted to add a few touches to it and hang it up.
I bought the little wreath and the stars a while back for it.
Added an old curtain that I had and a sting of leaves.
Ken helped and here it is hanging on the wall.
Got another puzzle started.  This one of a fox sitting on a log
looking at a butterfly.
 Also got some reading done.
A pretty quite day around home.

By late afternoon the snow stopped and the sun came out.
We went to Brenda's for supper.
Here's what I had.

A Snowy Day

Once again we have a snowy day here at the most
northern, western part in the state of Maryland.
A cold, windy, snowy morning and not a good morning for taking a walk,
so getting most of my steps today in the house.
BUT
later in the morning when it was 12 degrees Ken and I bundled up
and went outside in the snow.
Ken had the snow blower going clearing off the driveway
and I shoveled a bit where the snow blower can't go.
Also cleared off the snow by the bird feeder fence and put
a bunch of seed out.
Walked around the yard in the snow and Ken snapped a couple pictures of me.

I just had to make a snow angel.

We really did run out of milk and bread so we drove up to the Shop
and Save in McHenry to get some.  Took the picture through the windshield.
While we were in town decided to have lunch at Burger King
and went through the drive through.

Then home to a nice warm cozy house.
Finished reading The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny.
I liked it as I do all the Chief Inspector Gamache books.

Did something with an old window and will tell you more about that tomorrow.

I had some soup that I had made awhile ago in the freezer and
we had that for supper.

Hope your day was a happy one whether you are having
spring or winter today.   😊  🌻  ⛄

Icy post

You all get a break from my usual post with
a different kind of post here today.
Just some icy pictures that I took Sunday afternoon on my walk.
It was cold but the sky was blue and sun was shining.

Started snowing last night and has been all day.

A happy day to you.
