Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Saturday's Critters

Linking up with Eileen for Saturday's Critters.
Last month I posted a picture of a horse that I see often while walking and
named him White Streak.
I was looking at some old pictures and came across White Streak
when he was just a little guy with his mom a few years ago.

Didn't get out walking this morning until 7:30.
I wanted to wait until it was light so I could see where the ice was.
It was 30 degrees with a slight wind.
My driveway was a sheet of ice so walked down to the road on the grass.
I stayed to the main road and walked up and down there
because it was clear with no ice.
The side streets were pretty slick.
I did make a little side trip to say hi to the few cattle that were out.
As can be expected didn't see any one else out walking.
I did see a few cars on the way to the Drane House though
to get some of those Christmas cookies.
I didn't go, too tempting!!

Walked 6 miles
Found a nickel

Did some house cleaning and then worked on the jigsaw puzzle.
Started my next book too.
Not much going on today, but it was nice to have
a day at home.

A happy day to you.

John - I do think it a good idea to carry some kind of spray or something around while walking and I suppose I should but it happens so rarely to me and it would just be something else for me to carry.  I only lasted one day carrying the stick around!

White Streak's mum is lovely looking too. Gosh that's a lot of ice, we just get a frost some mornings, but it's been quite mild here in Yorkshire really xx

You are brave to get out on the ice! It would have taken me all day to walk that far! But I do love to get outside. We hiked this afternoon and it felt great. Enjoy your weekend! I need to start a new book tonight. Any suggestions? Hugs, Diane

Oh my, those roads look icy and dangerous. Been a long time since I've seen roads like that. It is unbelievable how many coins you find walking. That is so neat!

Be careful out there!

Hello, I love the cute White Streak pony and the cows. The ice is scary to walk on, do you wear special shoes? Take care! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your week ahead!

Thanks for sharing the photo of White Streak when he was just a little guy. Lovely to see how he has grown.
Looks like you had a treacherous walk. We haven't had ice like that yet though I am sure it is coming shortly. We are supposed to get a bit of snow tonight.
We had a day at home yesterday too. Nice just to relax at home.
Have a lovely Sunday.

I'm glad you are careful on the ice, K!

Oh so lovely to see a photo of young 'white streak'

Sometimes it's just so nice to enjoy time at home ...
Glad the beans went down well the other day.

All the best Jan

Hoping you'll be able to stay safe with the frost out on the road. I'm up near Chicago and we have a pile of snow on the ground since early this morning when it started. Stay warm.

Your commitment to walking astounds me. What do you do for hunting season? Just when I think it's safe, I hear gunshots...muzzle loader season now. I haven't been able to clean up outside around The Ponderosa as I would like to because of it.

Stay safe out there...frost, ice, grumpy dogs...

Winter is settling in for us all & those streets seem very slippery so you were wise to wait for your walk! Nice to see the horses & cattle don't seem to mind the cold!
Have a happy week!

Happyone, Thank you for answering my question. I agree, carrying spray is a pain. I guess I will continue to just take my chances. We had our first bit of snow, mixed with rain, this morning. Colder air is on the way so we may be covered up later in the week. I would like to get some winter scene photos. Hope you have a fine week ahead!
