Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Cheese cake

๐Ÿ     ๐Ÿ‚     ๐ŸŒฐ
44 degrees this morning when I headed out the door at 6:30 in the dark.
It felt like the middle of the night.
I could see the stars.

Had my usual walk all around town, up and down all the streets,
the cemeteries and the ball park.
One of the older grave stones I could find that I could still read.
Such a shame that there are so many that can't be read.
This picture I took leaving the cemetery heading back to the main road.
Kathy was out walking and we passed each other a couple times.
Didn't stop for a chat today, just a sentence as we walked by each other.

Walked 6.4 miles
Didn't find many coins this month. (too dark to see any)
 1 nickel and 6 pennies
A grand total of 11 cents

Bowling day has rolled around again.
There were 6 of us there today.
My bowling today was good but not great.
No record breaking scores.
Didn't go anywhere after bowling so was home by 3:30.

Ken's birthday is Wednesday and every year I bake him a cheese
cake and I did that after supper.
Here it is just before I put it in the oven
where it is right now.
I'm sure we will be eating it tomorrow, a day early.
A happy day to you.

"Have you had a kindness shown?
Pass it on;
Twas not given for thee alone,
Pass it on;
Let it travel down the years,
Let it wipe another's tears,
'Til in Heaven the deed appears,
Pass it on."

  1. The colourful fall trees are just gorgeous.

  2. I like looking at old tomb stones. They are interesting. Yummmm on the chees cake!

  3. Wish I got cheesecake on my birthday - or anytime!

  4. Loved seeing "Pass it On." I think that's a hymn(?)

The trees are beautiful, and neat that you found 11 cents!

It is sad when gravestones become hard to read. An old stone belonging to one of my family members had a lot of words engraved on it. We were wondering what it said, so my sister traced the words out on paper...and we were able to figure it out!

  5. WOW! No ways to explain the beauty of the views...

  6. Happy Birthday to Ken! I'm sure he'll enjoy that scrumptious cheesecake!

  7. Cheesecake, yum!!! I love the poem at the end, too. HOPE your hubby had a great birthday. Question? Do you ever get scared on your walks, especially in the dark? I'm just a big scaredy cat, apparently. ;-)

  8. Hello, the colorful trees and views are lovely. Happy Birthday to Ken! The cheesecake looks like it will be delicious. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!

  9. If we make it early, we eat it early. The prettu cheesecake will be delicious, I bet!

  10. I'm sure you are enjoying that cheesecake. Happy Birthday to Ken.
The trees are looking very pretty in your neck of the woods.

  11. The trees look beautiful. I love cheesecake... yum xx

  12. Hi Happyone, Please say Happy Birthday to Ken for me. Wow, I love that picture of the colorful trees at the top of this post. The cheesecake looks delicious! Thanks for the updates on Happy Trails in earlier posts. Have a good remainder of the week!

  13. Cheesecake early and birthday greetings early! What a pretty picture of autumn glory...

  14. Yum on the cheesecake! Happy Birthday to Ken. I don't think I'd be able to wait to dig into that cake!

  15. Fantastic colour in the trees in your top photo.

Cheesecake is lovely ... Best Wishes to Ken for a Happy Birthday.

    All the best Jan

  16. I haven't been bowling in awhile
