Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Sitting Nook

On the way home from Outback last night we stopped up at Happy Trails.
This was the sunset we saw up there.
Once the leaves are gone we should see even better sunsets.
🍁     🍁     🍁     🍁
While we were there I took a picture of the little sitting nook in the cabin.
Used more of the pallet boards on the walls.
Ken made the two benches which open up for storage.
Behind the bench on the right a small closet opens up for more storage
and a couple of shelves are above that.
Eventually there will be a slab of wood for the table.

This morning it was 58 degrees when I walked and another cloudy morning.
No special walking route, just walked up and town all the streets in town.
The two cemeteries and the ball park were included too.

This outhouse is in the back yard of the Drane house.
This picture I took standing in the back yard of the Drane house.

Not much activity around town.
Didn't see anyone else out walking.
Walked 6.3 miles
Found a penny
Sunrise 7:00
Sunset 7:23

I went out front and weeded the front garden at the end of the driveway.
I spent a little over two hours and didn't quite finish.
Nice to take a rest afterward sitting on my swing.

As I was doing dishes at the kitchen sink I looked out the window and saw this chipmunk sitting on the rocks.
Grabbed my camera and took a picture.  It came out better than I though because it was right through the screen.
I then went outside thinking I could get a better picture but when I opened the door I scared him away.  Not too far away though because there he is hiding.
Ken was out today and when he came home he had some ice cream with him.
That means we can have ice cream for our snack tonight.  😊
It wasn't on sale so he just bought one.

We played a game of Chinese Checkers.
Ken won but it was a very close game.  He won by one move.

A happy day to you.

and we listen too little to nature.
The wind is one of my sounds.
A lonely sound, perhaps, but soothing."

What is one of your sounds?
Mine is rain falling on my umbrella as I walk along.

Christine - You're right.  Morgantown is in West Virginia.
Bethany - the yellow wild flowers in yesterday picture was goldenrod.

That chipmunk looks so cute hiding away, and I liked the photo you managed to take when he was sitting on the rock.

... the sound of Autumn leaves crinkling and crunching under your feet!

All the best Jan

Gorgeous sunset Karen. What a spectacular view you have. Your sitting nook at HT looks very cosy. I love the photo of the chipmunk peeping out over the rock.
I love listening to the frogs and toads at night. That is what I fall asleep to every night when I can have the windows open.

That is a lovely glow in the sky through the trees at HT! Ken has made a great job of fitting the benches into that cute little nook!
Sweet little chipmunk too! What flavour ice cream did you enjoy?

you have some cute little critters around your house. When we were little and found a penny, we were supposed to have good luck if we chanted the following: Find a penny pick it up. all day long you'll have good luck!

Hello, pretty scenes and photos. Love the cute chipmunk. Your little nook is cute, will you put cushions on the seats? It reminds me of the eating areas in a tiny house. The birds singing is my favorite sound. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

I read with relief that you finally have your ice cream! :) I like that sitting nook in HT and I'm very impressed with all the storing spaces you have created there. The chipmunk is so cute. We have squirrels here. I just found out the other day the difference between squirrels and chipmunks. We have tree squirrels (no stripes). Have a great weekend.

I haven't seen an outhouse in a long time! Cute little chipmunk--especially peeking out of its safe place. What a cute nook at Happy Trails. Love the colors.

Did you know Chinese Checkers is really German? It was renamed because of WWI along with Liberty Cabbage
