Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Quilt Barn (2)

A Quilt Barn in Garrett County Maryland.
The barn is owned by Reed Rodeheaver
and the block is sponsored by Robert and Evelyn Hugueley.
The pattern is called Sallies T
and uses the colors and pattern in a quilt made by Evelyn's mother, Sallie.
I'm linking up for the first time today with Tom at The Barn Collective.

This morning it was 54 degrees and dark when I left at 6:15.  The sun eventually did rise and I had a sunny walk.

Walked first to the Laundromat to hang up a flyer for another event at my church and then walked to the post office and put one up there too.

Then continued on my walking all over town and as usual around both cemeteries and the ball park loop.
Down by the pond at the Drain house in an old rotting tree I spotted a downy woodpecker pecking away.  I zoomed with my camera but just couldn't get a good picture.

Kathy was out walking again and another woman who I used to see last year walking her dog.  Rebecca was out too walking her dog.
Having a dog is another good way to get out there and walk.  You're alone but not alone.
Walked 6.3 miles
Sunrise 6:56
Sunset 7:30

A beautiful sunny cool morning and Ken went up to Happy Trails.
I stayed home to do housework but ended up taking my car for a little spin.
It was a nice drive on some curvy country roads.

When I got back home I took a little walk around my garden.
I didn't think I was going to get any peppers or eggplants this year
but they are finally growing.
Eggplant
Peppers
Purple Pepper - the seed came out of the same seed packet as the green peppers.

I did not plant these sunflower plants.  They just popped up
all in a row  like someone planted them.
Must have been the birds.
Ken came home lunch time and I hadn't done any cleaning at all.
I hate to start cleaning in the afternoon
so I went back up to HT with Ken after lunch.
Before we went though we pulled up all the cucumber plants and threw them in the back of the truck and dumped them up at HT.
Goodbye cucumbers - it was nice to have cucumbers but I am glad to see the last of them.

Ken worked on building bench with two seats in the cabin.
I helped a tiny bit but mostly just walked around.
Read a little bit too and actually dozed off.

We will be eating supper in a little while.
Pasta and a salad.
A happy day to you.

Beautiful barn quilt! We had a lovely cool walk this morning. Your car looks great! Glad you enjoyed your ride. Your peppers look delicious. Nothing like veggies right from your garden.
Great quote!

Now let me tell you, I hope that this isn't the last time you join The Barn Collective. This quilt barn looks mighty fine! Thanks so much for finding your way here, I hope that you remember the directions back again.

That is a very pretty quilt barn.
I think taking a spin in your cute little car sound far more appealing that housework. :).
Hooray for the eggplants and peppers. I'm sure they will be a welcome change from cucumbers for you.

I almost had a chance to drive a red Vette once but declined. What was I thinking! I just love the sunflowers.

The quilt barns are so pretty. We just don't see that many pretty barns around here, at least not near where we live. That is a neat purple pepper and eggplant.

Look at you driving that little red sports car! It's beautiful. I do have dogs and I do hope to get out when it cools off to try walking them around my subdivision. We'll see how that goes. They both bark at everything and I don't know how it will go BUT I plan to try, REALLY try to get out walk! You are such an inspiration!!

Your garden is coming along nicely. You are going to have your eggplants and peppers after all. The barn is so nice, and being a quilter I really appreciate Sallie's quilt square on the side. It is a beautiful pattern. Such a nice way to remember her. genie

I want to paint a "barn quilt" to go on the side of our storage building!!! Your car is soooo pretty! Love the red. Our garden is on the downhill slope to dying...it's been a very dry summer here in East Tennessee. Awesome pics, as usual.

What a pretty quilt pattern and a great tribute to the quilter. It's always fun and exciting to have your veggies growing!

Loving the barn quilt but not quite as much as your beautiful red motor, very shiny! It's really therapeutic polishing your car.
Have a wonderful weekend Happyone :)

Nice barn, beautiful barn quilt. Hope you enjoyed your backroads drive; it's one of my favorite things to do (in my own bright red roadster!).
