70 degrees this morning with the sun filtering down through a layer of thin clouds. I walked around the farm loop.
The goats were out by the dairy farm and this time they were standing perfectly still. : ) That's a change.
Saw geese flying above me a number of times. So low that I could hear their wings flapping.
A doe and her two fawns were running in the soy bean field.
They continued into the corn field and disappeared.
I've seen black pansies in the store but don't think I've ever seen any planted in a yard until today. I prefer the other colors.
Once back to town, I walked a loop around town and then headed home.
Saw Lee on his riding his bike but just waved because he was too far away so I didn't get any mints today.
On older man was taking stroll around town.
John who used to wave and give me toot when he drove the mail truck through town doesn't drive the truck anymore. There's a new man driving it now.
Wonder what happened to John. Will have to ask next time I go to the post office.
When I got back to the house I picked a bunch more cucumbers out of the garden and then walked over to Connie's house who lives catty-corner to us and set them on her table on the deck.
Also put more seed out in the feeders for the birds out back.
By the time I got inside the house I had
walked 6.6 miles.

Ken's off with his friend Edd today and I'm home hanging around the house.
It has been a warm sunny day.
I've done some laundry,
called my brother Chris,
read,
and just puttering around doing this and that.
Chris is still in a lot of pain at times after his back surgery and needs
to have a couple more surgeries.
He is in good spirits though and tries to be positive.
This picture is me and Chris just about 22 years ago.
It was taken at his wedding.
It is the only picture I could find of him.
Couldn't figure out what to cook for supper
and didn't feel like cooking anyway,
so we've decided to eat at the new iHop
that just opened not too long ago in Grantsville.

I'm toying with the idea of getting my hair cut short
like in the picture again.
My hair is now completely gray.

May your day be a happy one.

Connie - No, I don't have a post about the natural fence I'm making but here is another picture from last year. There's not much to it. I just collect the dead fall that falls and pile it up. It helps to have a couple of trees to put it between as you can see in the picture. You can pile it up as high as you want and as wide as you want. It is a good place to put the dead fall instead of burning it and makes a nice home for animals.

A pumpkin and geese flying low overhead are sure signs the seasons are on the turn!
You suit your hair that style and I hope Chris makes a speedy recovery.
The best iHOP I remember was in Charleston SC
Speaking of pumpkins and Ihop, its almost time for them to roll out their pumpkin spice pancakes!

Thanks for the photo . . . I can see how you go about building it. We live in a desert area and the only trees in our town are trees that have been planted here. I was raised in Indiana with a woods in front and behind our home . . . I do miss that, but there is a beauty to the desert and the irrigated farm land, too.
I adore pumpkins and can't wait to adorn my porch with them! I hope your son gets feeling better soon. Our oldest son had back surgery a couple years ago and does very well now. We are heading into fall, loving the cooler weather!
hugs,
Jann
Lovely picture of you and Chris and your hair looks very nice. Always difficult to choose whether to have it cut off as it takes ages to grow.
Loving the pumpkin. Prunella could do with one just like that for Halloween!
Have a wonderful Weekend :)
I've never heard of making a natural fence with Fallen branches. What a neat idea. Did you come up with that yourself? Can't believe you are still getting cucumbers. Not sure if I saw that in this post or another one. Mine didn't do well at all this year because of lack of rain. You are such an inspiration with your walking. Hope you have a great weekend!
That is quite a pumpkin! I'm sorry that Chris is having pain. I hope that all these surgical ordeals will be effective and that he can eventual be without pain. I like your hair short in the photo. Mine is completely gray too. I've considered coloring it again but I think I'll just leave it as it is and work with it. Chris is a handsome guy. Have a great day.
I forgot to mention that I've never seen black pansies. I don't think I like them very much.
Hello, I have never seen black pansies, I prefer the more colorful pansies. The shot of you and your brother is great, I like the short hair. I agree the natural fence is a great habitat for the little critters. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
I really like the picture of you and Chris ... short hair does suit you.
I find the older you get hair does change, be it the colour or texture. I prefer my hair a little shorter, it's more manageable too!
Just love the photo of the Pumpkin ... in a few weeks time it will be Pumpkin picking time - the grandchildren love doing this!
We have a three day 'bank holiday' weekend here in the UK - I hope you have a good weekend
All the best Jan
A very nice photo of you and Chris. I'm sorry to hear that he is still dealing with pain. Your short hair looks cute.
I've seen the black pansies planted inside a pumpkin and it looks nice for fall/Halloween.
Connie is a lucky lady. How fun to be surprised with fresh from the garden cucumbers.
What a great picture of you and your brother. Especially you. I love your hair short. If you don't like it - it grows out! Go for it.
You haven't changed a bit since the picture of you and Chris was taken! I like that haircut on you. Mine is really short right now, but I may regret it when it gets cold. I'm sending you and e-mail today.
You had a busy morning, but it sure sounds like a nice morning. That's a good picture of you and Chris. You look so pretty and you do look good in short hair, although I've not seen how your hair looks now. Sure hope Chris's back gets well. I never knew how bad back pain could be until recently. I'm not crazy about black flowers either.
I think your hair looks cute short, Karen!
Don't know if you know, but IHOP has a Two For One hour(s) for seniors from 3pm to 6pm. We eat there about once a week. Any two meals can be purchased for the price of the higher costing meal and two drinks.
