Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Wednesday

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

70 degrees again this morning and it was cloudy and felt like rain but it never did.   Not much of a breeze either but still not as humid as the last two days.

I started out walking up the two hills behind my house and then walked through town, up Barn Sale a little ways and then down toward HT.  Continued back to town, and around the cemeteries and the ball park loop and then home.

Didn't see any people out walking, but saw a bunch of rabbits, a couple of deer and lots of geese down by the town pond.

Walking down a road where there are pine trees along it,  there was a squirrel up in one of the trees and it sure seemed like it was throwing pine cones at me. : )

Walked 6.4 miles.

Ken left in the morning to help a friend with his tractor.  While he was gone I did a couple of things inside and then went outside to do a little work.
As you can see in the picture we started to put some crushed rock around the area by the heat pump.  I've never liked those 5 bushes by the railing which have stickers.
So I decided to dig them up and throw them away.  They all came up pretty easy and I felt so good that I was able to do it by myself.  I went up to HT with Ken in the afternoon and we got some more crushed rock.  Not enough to finish the job but we have a good start.
I am going to plant some kind of flowers along the railing.  This is what it looks like now with the sticker bushes gone.
I was sitting up at the back of our property cooling off in the shade and snapped a picture from where I was sitting.
Off I go now to get supper started, spaghetti and salad, and then we are off to mid week service at church.
Then later I'll be having some more of that ice cream. : )

Hope your day was a happy one.
happyone : )

  5. Makes you feel good to get a big job done all by yourself, like digging up those bushes. Flowers will be so pretty there. Sure wish that great big barn was on my property. :)

    1. Yes, I like when I don't need help. : )
The barn is at the edge of town and you can barely see it until you walk up the drive.

  6. Pretty daisies! I have some bushes around the house where I live that I would dearly love to dig up. Unfortunately, it's not my house. :( We have lots of squirrels in and around my house. Some will chatter to me while they are up in a tree. They seem to think that my dog and I are invading their territory! Have a great day.

  11. Love the picture of the old barn with all the different colours and textures. I like what you are doing with your rocks (I'm partial to stones) and you're being eco-minded using resources from your own land. There's a special satisfaction in creating a beautiful design using the resources to hand.

While I was digging up the bushes I though of you. You would have done it by yourself too. : )

  13. Beautiful old barn in that top photo. I'm glad you took those bushes out. It doesn't make any sense to have prickly bushes right by a handrail, does it? :) Good job.
