Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy Trails Work

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
68 degrees this morning with a mix of clouds and a nice breeze. Walked straight through town and out the other end and went down toward HT, passed up the the turn off road to HT and walked another 1/2 mile down the road.
Then turned around and walked back to town, around both cemeteries and the ball park loop and then headed home.

Lena was out walking today with Kathy and we three stopped for a short chat.  Kathy asked if I had eaten the peach. : )  I'll do that tomorrow.  A man was out walking his dog too, but I'd never seen him before.

Walked 6.2 miles.

Ken put up the shelves last night and then I put a few of my things on them.  My step-dad made the shelves. Three of them are now in the dining room.
The other two are in the back sitting room.  The Monopoly game board hanging on the wall is one I made quite a few years ago.  It is a counted cross stitch done to scale and you can actually play the game on it.  The picture on the right is a needlepoint I made and the piece of crazy quilt in the frame was made and given to me by my friend Elsie a long time ago.
Ken went up to Happy Trails again today and this time I went with him.  The weather was sun and clouds and we had a rain shower but then the sun came back out.
Yesterday Ken finished putting the shingles on the bump out and stained them blue.  He used old pallets.  The other little bump out in front will have the same shingles.
The rest of the front will have the slab boards on it.  We are still waiting for the guy to call with the saw mill who is going to cut the trees that Ken got from church a while back.  Hopefully that will happen next week.

We collected more rocks with the tractor and Ken used them to make these steps.  We are using some of our crushed rock on the steps too. They are still not finished but this is what is done so far.  Notice that Men Working sign? : )
We cleaned the inside of the cabin up a bit and took a lot of the tools and things we weren't using back down to the tractor barn to put away.  Here's a shot of the inside of the cabin.  I'm standing in the corner where Ken just put the shingles up to take the picture.
When we got back home I did a bit of weeding out in the front yard.  I filled up two wheelbarrow fulls and then I had it for the day.

Looking forward to ice cream later for my snack.  Lately I've been eating a Hagan flavor called Chippedy Chocolaty.  It's vanilla ice cream with chocolate shavings in it that taste like the chocolate coating you get on the ice cream on a stick.  It is very good and I think I might even like it better than Chocolate Chip Mint.

So that's been my Friday.
Hope your day was a happy one.

The cabin is looking so good. We own a piece of property that my Mom gave us about a year ago and I would love to build a small cabin on it...with electricity and running water. ;-) HOPE you have a good weekend.

The cabin looks great! Like the ouside colours. I remember when our cabin (now part of our house) was at that stage, how nice it was to get up there for the weekend and make a bit more progress.

Our little cabin does have electricity but no running water. We will rig up something to collect rainwater. An out house is planned. : )

Thank you. It's been a little slow going this year but hope to get the inside of the cabin finished this year.

Thanks. Hope to be able to work on it more in the weeks to follow. Nice that it is only 3 miles away.

What?! Better than mint chocolate chip? This is unheard of and unprecedented. LOL! Sometimes I get into an ice cream rut...I think I am tired of Caramel Caribou.

Your shelves look great with the FiestaWare. So meaningful to have family treasures to enjoy.

Everything at Happy Acres looks great...what a fun getaway.

I always look forward to your posts about the cabin :) It's looking great! I really love the blue shingles -- the color with the red trim is just perfect. You both can be proud of the wonderful work you've done! And the stone steps are just perfect. The inside is starting to look a little like a home too - how exciting! Oh -- your shelves are beautiful. Is that Fiesta Ware? Very pretty!

Oh yes, this ice cream is wonderful. : )

Hi Happyone, haven't been online so much just lately so I have a lot of catching up. Thank you for your visit. During the Summer it just nice to be able to chill out in the garden.
Loving your cabin, Ken is indeed very talented as are yourself. Love your Stepfathers shelves, they look just wonderful in your beautiful home.
Keep up the good work in your garden, it looks so huge!!

Thank you for all your kind words. I enjoy working in the garden but the weeding can get a bit tedious after a while. The garden I'm working on now, I'm going for an English garden look.
