Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy 4th

Happy 4th Of July

58 degrees and a cloudy sky when I walked this morning and though it looked like rain the whole time it never did.

I walked all over town up and down all the streets.  Took a walk up Barn Sale a ways to see the cows and down by the Drane house to see the horses.

It was a bit early yet to see anyone out getting ready for the parade but there were some people who had put lawn chairs out along the parade route to save their places.
As I walked I took some pictures of all the different flags I saw along the way.

I walked 5.5 miles.  Just a bit short this morning because I thought I'd be walking around town later on for the festivities in town.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Mid morning it started raining so the ceremony at the memorial in town was held in the rain.  Rain stopped for a while and the parade came down the road.  It ends right in front of our house so we just sat on the porch and watched.  It rained again when the parade was over.
We didn't go walk around town for the festivities because of the rain.
We had planned on going up to Happy Trails this afternoon but it rained so we stayed home and spent our afternoon being at home doing things inside.  Too bad it rained on this day but we need some rain and now I don't have to water the gardens.

Next week is Bible Time at church for the kids.  I said I'd bake some cookies, 20 dozen to be exact.  Today I baked 10 dozen chocolate chippers.  Half way there.

Hope your day was a happy one.

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free.
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer:

God bless America, land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

Hi Karen - Happy Independence Day to you! I love all the pictures of the flags. I love seeing flags flying on the 4th of July! So sorry it rained, but rain is good too. You are so kind to bake all those cookies for the children in your church. Enjoy this week!, my friend.

Never heard anyone say I baked some cookies as a way to describe 20 dozen! Happy 4th. We're hoping for rain too. It just keeps skirting us each day, but maybe today.

I'm sorry the rain messed up some festivities but at least the parade happened. The cookies sound wonderful! Happy 4th.

Hi Karen, too bad it rained for the 4th. We had rain on our Canada Day which was last Friday.
The mornings have been cool here too. Lovely for walking. The sunrise this morning was beautiful! Have a good day.

Hello, our 4th of July was rainy too. It is great that the parade goes right by your house, that is convenient. I love all the flag photos. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day and the week ahead!

Lovely patriotic images. Our 4th was mostly cloudy and hot and muggy to boot. Still a great day! Have a blessed week :)

Sounds like you had a patriotic day on the 4th despite the rain... Love it when people display their flags.. We keep ours out year round --and light it at nights.

Luckily, the rains (predicted here) held off all day yesterday --for those who were BBQing, swimming, etc..... AND--the community even got their fireworks in last night... The rains finally started late---during the night... It was pouring at 5 a.m. this morning so we didn't take a walk....

Hugs,
Betsy

I enjoyed seeing all of the different flags in your area.
It sounds like you had more rain than we did, but at least you did get to see the parade from the comfort of your front porch.
Hope you are able to get back to HT soon.

I didn't mind the rain. I enjoy baking and don't want to eat it all so I'm happy to bake and give them away to the kids. : )

It's great to see our nation's colors on display. We got a good bit of rain on the holiday weekend, too. Like you, we got some work done inside for a change.
