Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Cows

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
63 degrees this morning and cloudy when I walked.  Nice to get back to my walk after missing a day yesterday. : )

Walked all around town, the cemeteries and the ball park loop.  Walked down the main road and up Barn Sale a bit to visit the cows.  This bull with the brand is visiting Farmer Marvin's farm and getting to know the females.
Farther up the road this one looks down at me as I walk by.
Then across the road in another pasture there are some cows and their babies.
These belong to Farmer Marvin too.
I saw a blue bird by the cemetery and heard a few bull frogs as I passed by the town pond.  They were quite noisy!!
Kathy was out walking and saw George too.

Walked 6.4 miles.
Found a dime.

Ken went up to Happy Trails for the day and I stayed home getting work done.  Got another 6 dozen cookies baked (only 4 dozen to go) for the kids next week, did some laundry and house cleaning.

After lunch walked up to the post office to mail off a package to my mom and a couple other things.  Nice living in a small town, no line at the post office and everyone is very friendly. : )

We've just had supper and soon will be going to church.  Walmart is out that way too so we are going to do a bit of grocery shopping after church.
That's it for today.

A happy day to you.

of those things when I squeeze them?"

  1. Very pretty top photo Karen. Love the flowers.
I haven't seen a bluebird in years, lucky you.
Our new house is in a small town too. I am looking forward to being able to walk downtown to do errands.
    Hope you enjoyed church.

  4. We have a small post office right down the street from us. It's only open a few hours a day with a break in the middle. Guy has to go home and come back. I hope he lives as close as we do.

  6. You do live in such a quiet, sweet town. I enjoy hearing about the friends you see each day as you walk. LOVE the photo of the pretty country bench up there! That quote at the bottom about the cows is so funny. I read a similar one about chickens that went something like this: What person first looked at a chicken, saw it squeeze something hard and white out of its rear end, and thought, "I'll go eat that"? Haha!!

  7. Lovely photos from your morning walk. I especially like the bench sitting amongst the flowers. Such a peaceful setting.
I can relate to those loud bullfrogs. Our pond has become a frog magnet this summer. We've had them making mating calls right outside our bedroom window since April and now the babies are hopping about the garden beds by the hundreds. Yikes! A couple of weeks ago a new mating call started up which sounded more like a duck quacking. Very annoying sound to listen to as we tried to get to sleep. Brett spent many nights searching around with a flashlight and finally discovered they were little tree frogs (little NOISY tree frogs). We finally captured them and drove them to a wooded area a few miles away where we hope they will be happy and not return here again.

    1. We have loads of frogs at the HT pond but none here at home.
We've been trapping squirrels and chipmunks here at home and taking them up to the woods. There are just so many.
We think we have a bear visiting the back yard feeders at night. Tonight we are going to set up the game camera.
