Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A good shopping day

Hornet and its nest near our front porch.
It's about the size of a baseball.
We bought one of the spray cans that you can stand a good distance
away from while spraying it.
I'll let Ken have that job!

53 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds during my walk today.  I've sure been having some great weather for walking lately.

First walked to the post office and mailed a card.  P.O. Not opened yet so just dropped it down the slot.

Continued walking around the ball park loop, the two cemeteries, went down toward Happy Trails and up Sale Barn Rd and finally around town before reaching home again.

Farmer Marvin's field of soy beans.  Some years he plants corn in this field.  He has corn growing in other fields this year.
Two people out walking dogs again and quite a few people were up and out early getting yard sales set up.
They put on a pretty good parade in town here on the 4th and town workers were out sprucing things up.  Places getting mowed and trimmed and flags up all along the main street.

Walked 6.2 miles.

We went down to LaVale for the day to do some shopping and I had great success. : )  Sometimes it is hard to find jeans that fit but today the first pair I tried on fit perfectly and were comfortable so I bought two!! Also got a very pretty soft blue and white plaid shirt.  I still haven't been able to find a jean skirt but today I found a jean dress and bought that too.
Ken got a couple shirts, bought my mom a couple sweat pants and will mail them to her and we got a few other things we needed too.

Before leaving LaVale we stopped at Rita's and had a Gelati.  Both of us had chocolate with cherry which we ate outside at a table by the store.  A good ending to a good shopping day.

Before getting back home we stopped by church and helped Pastor put up a bunch of flags around the church property.  Looks very patriotic.  Should have taken a picture.  Will tomorrow if I think of it.

Well that's been my day.
Hope yours was a happy one.

This little bird sat here in the water on our water feature in the back yard for the longest time yesterday.  It blends in so well with the rock you can hardly see it.  Lots of birds stop in here for a drink and a bath or like this one just to enjoy the cool water.  It is right outside my kitchen window.

Sounds like a really good day to me! It's funny, I thought I was reading your post about the "rolled hay". I love to see a field full of those big rolls of hay. That is just beautiful to me.

The little bird, is it a sparrow?

I love your water feature; nice having it right outside your kitchen window. When finished, please post pictures of all sides of your fountain and your new patio.
Please and thank you

it's so seldom you find a pair of good fitting jeans these days. Makes you wonder who they're making them for? But YAY for you for buying two pair since they fit well! Your water feature is lovely and I imagine it must sound wonderful. Happy 4th of July to you and yours.

I had a wasp nest under the eaves of my front porch as well. Not as big as that one thankfully. I eventually was able to knock it done with no harm to me. Your shopping excursion sounded very successful, especially the chocolate cherry gelato at the end. Have a great weekend.

Hello, your shopping trip was a great success. I like the countryside images from your walk and the pretty bird on your water feature. I am sure the birds appreciate the water and drink. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the new week ahead!

We have had a few experiences with wasps nests too. Not fun!
Wow, you had a great shopping trip. I did manage to find a jean skirt a month ago but it was hard!
Love your water feature!

I love to hear the sound of the water and I keep my kitchen window open so I can hear it.

Hoping Ken gets to the hornets nest soon!! It grows bigger each day. The hornets haven't bothered us though, not yet anyway.

Thank you.

I don't like killing things but had to do the same a few weeks ago. They will defend their nest even if you are not too close. Glad you had a good day.

They like to hang around my porch, never seen a nest. I did spray some and RAN

Ken sprayed the nest last night.

I'm glad I spotted the nest when it was still quite small.

I'd let my husband handle the hornets, too! LOL You did have a successful shopping trip, one worth celebrating.
