Miniature Golf

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

A chilly start to the morning today with a temperature of 48 degrees.  But it was mostly sunny with a few low clouds and it quickly warmed up to 60.  Walked around the cemeteries first because they were both in the sunshine and it was a nice and warm.

Walked all around town and down toward Happy Trails and turned around walked back to town, around the ball park and then home.

Saw two people out walking dogs.  I've been watching the work progress on a house in town each morning.  The house got new siding and a new entrance way with an arched door.

Walked 6 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Still had some of those blueberries left so this morning I made blueberry muffins for breakfast.

Today was  Super Seniors day out at church and we went to FunLand to play miniature golf and have pizza for lunch.  Nice for us because we didn't have very far to go, only 6 miles down the road from our house.  Nine of us showed up and we enjoyed our game of golf and the pizza.  The weather was perfect, sunny and in the low 70's.
The miniature golf course is the prettiest one I've ever seen and has a water theme throughout and has lots of beautiful flowers every where you look.  I snapped a few pictures.

I read on Jan's Blog about growing celery.  I cut the bottom of a celery bunch off and placed it in a bowl with warm water.  Here you can see the leaves have started growing.
If your reading this Jan, should I plant this in soil now or wait until it gets bigger?
It's been a good day.  Think this evening after supper Ken and I will sit out on the front porch.  Seems like a nice way to spend a summer evening. : )

Hope your day was a happy one.

A little work at HT

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

The morning started off cool with a temperature of 53 degrees.  Started out cloudy but ended up sunny and beautiful.  Great weather for a morning walk.

I walked the Farm Loop.  Saw Joyce walking down to Hartmans' to get her cup of coffee and we stopped for a little chat.  She lives along the farm loop.

The dairy cows were split in the two fields this morning.  Some out in the far pasture and some near the road.  The cows in the picture above are up on Spear Road where I walked up just a short way and is a road off of the farm loop.  The cows belong to Farmer Bill.

Didn't walk through town this morning but took a loop around the industrial park and then home.
Walked 6 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
The rhubarb and ice cream was very good last night and I did take a picture of it but some pictures of food just don't come out looking very appetizing and this was one of those times.

Went up to Happy Trails today for a day of work.  We started putting in the insulation and got the front wall done.  Here is Ken working on it.
We had a picnic lunch up at HT and I had peanut butter bread and cottage cheese with pineapple in it.
We also went around in the ATV and collecting some more flat rocks for the patio at home.

Home now for supper and then off to church.  I'll probably be having more rhubarb and ice cream tonight for my snack.

A happy day to you.

Tuesday

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
A temperature of 60 degrees this morning when I left on my walk.  Sun and clouds around and some of the clouds were so low I walked through them.  A slight breeze to keep things cool and pleasant.

Walked around the ball park loop and the two cemeteries and then a loop around town.  Went a ways up Sale Barn Road and then down toward Happy Trails.

A spider web over by one of the cemeteries.
Some pretty wild flowers along the guard rail on my way back to town.
Kathy was walking around town again as well as the man with the two little dogs who always bark at me.  Another woman was running who I see every once in a while but I've never met her.  Every time I see her running, before she reaches me she always turns around and goes the other way.

Walked 6.2 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Cooked up the rhubarb this morning.  I cut up the rhubarb and cooked it on the stove with sugar, butter and some cornstarch until it boils and thickens.  Then I usually make a topping to put over it and then bake it.  Instead of making the topping, I'm going to just pour some over some vanilla ice cream for my snack tonight.  If I think about it, I'll take a picture and post it tomorrow.

Bowling day today and since we didn't make it last week, it was nice to get back again.  Only 4 of us there today.  I had two good scores and one not so good but had a lot of fun anyway.

On the way home we stopped at Lowe's and got some insulation and plan to start putting it in the cabin at HT tomorrow.

We live about 10 miles from Deep Creek Lake and drive by it VERY often.  Today we stopped to just enjoy the scenery and I took a picture.

That's been my Tuesday.
A happy day to you.

Jedidja - Thanks for sending me the link for the rhubarb recipe.  I've bookmarked it and will try it.  I am familiar with the rusk that goes in it.  My grandmother was from Holland and we used to eat Holland rusk with butter and sugar on it for breakfast.  Not sure if I'll be able to find it around here now, but I'll look.
Pancakes are a breakfast food here but at times I eat them for supper too.

Sun and rain and a day outside

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

62 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds.  A couple of times the sky got pretty dark but then it was sunny again.  Not much of a breeze this morning.

I walked the Farm Loop.  Saw George on his bike and he told me he saw a bear  when he was on his bike along the road up farther that goes around the mountain.  The bear just ran off when it spotted him.

When I got back to town I walked up along Sale Barn just a little ways.  A few of the cows were back in the field.  These two were butting heads and ignored me as I walked by.
Made a loop around the ball park before walking back home.
Walked 6.2 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
We had a special treat for breakfast this morning.  I made us blueberry pancakes.  I like having milk to drink with my pancake and I had a nice big glass.

I was planning on cleaning the house today but ended up outside all day.  Ken worked on the stone patio and the end is now in sight.
While he did that I did more weeding.  I also planted the rest of the lettuce, tomatoes, and bell peppers.  Harvested some more rhubarb too.
I had laundry drying out on the line when it clouded up and Ken was the first to feel the rain drops.  I took the clothes in and hung them inside.  Then we took a break and went to Subway and got subs for lunch.  There was a light rain yet when we got back home but that soon ended and the sun came out again.  I ended up hanging some of the clothes back outside to finish drying.
I continued to do a little more weeding and Ken went up to HT to get some more flat rocks for the patio.

For supper I cooked up some bell peppers and onions and we had them in burrito shells with rice and a little bit of sour cream.  Haven't made them in quite some time but they are easy to make and very tasty.
Now I'm looking forward to my ice cream later this evening.

So that's been my day.
A happy day to you.

Christians

When polls are taken they still indicate
that most people in the world say they are Christians.
But in this group of people there are three different kinds.

The first group is the largest and they are
Man-Made Christians.
Most have been born into a Christian home.
They may go to church or
have been baptized
and they are told
You are a Christian.

The second group are
Self-Made Christians.
They are honest, moral, work hard,
do charitable works,
and are good citizens.
They think they are good enough
and do enough good works to
earn their way into heaven.

The smallest group of Christians are
God-Made Christians.
This group comes to God
knowing they are sinners
and can't do enough good works or be good enough
to get to heaven on their own.
They believe that God loved them so much that
He sent His Son Jesus
to die on the cross to pay for their sins
and rose again with the power to forgive their sins.
They have put their trust in Jesus
and God saved them from hell and made
each of them His child.
They now have a home in heaven when they die.

Ephesians 2: 8 and 9
For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and not of yourselves: It is the gift of God.
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world
that He gave is only begotten son
that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.

I am a God-Made Christian. : )
A blessed Sunday to you all.
Jesus loves you.

Rainbow

Last night while we were all eating supper
outside on their deck before we began playing Mexican Train
this rainbow appeared in the sky.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Didn't get up until 6:45 this morning.  Slept in a bit because we got home late last night.  Had a fun time playing Mexican Train and being with our friends.  : )

This morning it was 65 degrees and cloudy when I headed out for my walk at 7:00.

Walked around the industrial park and then up the road in the picture.  It ends in a dead end so turned around and walked back again.

Made a loop around town and one of the cemeteries and the ball park loop.

There were a lot of people riding bicycles through town because some a bike riding event was taking place.

Saw Lee riding his bike and he stopped to say hi.  He always gives me a couple of those round red and white peppermint candies that melt in your mouth when he sees me.  I've never seen him without them.

George who I see once in town stopped for a little chat too.  He showed me picture of his grandkids.

The usual bunnies were around again by the cemetery and a few were by the ball park too.

Walked 6.3 miles.
Found another dime.  This is the month for dimes!!
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
This morning I got busy baking some chocolate chip cookies.  Ken had a train club from Cumberland stop by to see his train layout this afternoon.  One of the members is Bob, who is a neighbor who lives behind us.  Everyone time visitors come to see the trains there are cookies for them.  Some people come just for the cookies. : )  Just kidding.  They stayed 2 1/2 hours.
If you would like to see pictures of Ken's layout there is a link to it, Ken's Trains, at the bottom of the page after the posts.

I got the lawn mowed this morning.  Three of my neighbors were mowing their lawns at the same time too.

Another sunny afternoon in the 70's and I continued with my weeding. Then sat on the porch and read for a while.

A happy day to you.

Friday

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

68 degrees this morning, cloudy and looked like rain but soon the sun was shining.

Wasn't sure where I wanted to walk this morning when I stepped outside but my feet took me around the Farm Loop.   I'm glad I went that way because it was beautiful and peaceful.

Saw a few bunnies, a couple of deer and a ground hog along the way.
An older gentleman passed me riding his bicycle up the hill.

The corn is now about 18 inches tall and looks nice and healthy.  We've gotten a good amount of sun and rain so far.
Back in town I saw Kathy again as I made a loop around town and the ball park.

Walked 6.4 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
It's been a while since Ken had breakfast with Edd and then went to the sale (auction) so it was nice he got to do that this morning.  He also stopped at Walmart on the way home and did the shopping this week.

I made some macaroni salad for this evening.  We are going to meet up with some friends at Tricia and Randy's house for supper and an evening of playing Mexican Train.

Took a little walk to the bank and on the way back stopped in at the library to say hi to Connie.

Spent a couple of hours out in the front yard this afternoon doing some more weeding.  Seems like it never gets done but I don't mind and it is nice to be outside on a nice day.  It was in the 70's and sunny with a bit of a breeze.  It clouded up at one point and the rain came pouring down.  Rained for about 10 minutes and then the sun came back out.

Better go and get ready for our evening out.
A happy day to you.

Grandma

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Woke up this morning to a thunder storm and didn't think it a good idea to walk in it so no morning walk today.

After breakfast we headed back to church and worked on the Fingerprint Ministry putting the book of Romans in Spanish together.  As usual I worked on a staple machine which is my favorite part to do.  For those new to reading my blog click HERE to learn about the Fingerprint Ministry.  Worked at the church from 9:00 to 12:30.

It's been a cloudy day all day with periods of misty rain.  I did a little more weeding in the afternoon.

After supper I went for just a short 2 1/2 mile walk.  Not a long walk but it felt good to at least get a little walk in.
The bunny is sitting in the parking lot of the library.
Kathy, if you are reading this, does this quilted table runner look familiar?  It is the one you made for my mother in 2004.  : )
The other day I posted a picture of my grandmother (mom's mom) and said I didn't think it looked like her.  This is how I picture my grandmother when I think of her. : )
And that ends my post for today.
Hope your day was a happy one.

A good day

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

A delightful morning for walking today.  58 degrees, sunny with a nice cool breeze out there.

Decided to walk the Farm Loop.
Farmer Bill was out by his house talking to a couple of men all with their heads under the hood of a truck.
A mower was out mowing the edge of the road.  He stopped until I was passed, then I turned around and took his picture which is the top picture today.

The cows were out in the same pasture as those pigs from the other day.  I guess cows and pigs get along.

Once back to town I took a loop around there too to make up the rest of my walk.
Walked 6.3 miles.
Found a dime.
 ✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Got a couple of loads of laundry hung up on the line and when I was out there I noticed a new visitor in the back yard.  He was in the little part of the yard that I'm turning into a meadow by the bird feeders.  I zoomed in on this guy cause I didn't want to get sprayed.  He just ambled off to the neighbors back yard after a little while.
We went up to Happy Trails mid morning.  The weather stayed on the cool side, with temperatures in the low 70's and mostly cloudy, but the sun did come out every so often.

Ken got a good deal done on cleaning out the tractor barn.  While he did that, I took the ATV down a couple of paths.
I spent some time sitting in a chair reading and did a little knitting too.
We packed a lunch and had lunch up there.
Ken got his tractor running and dug out some more rocks, flat ones for the patio back at the house and we piled up some more rocks by the rock crusher for another day.
Back home I took a picture of the stone patio progress.
Time to go make some supper.  Then its off to church and we will be staying an hour or so afterward to get started on getting those scriptures put together.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you.

Tuesday

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
When I started my walk this morning it was 68 degrees, cloudy and breezy.  It was supposed to rain and it sure got dark and looked like it but it never did while I was walking.

Walked over to the post office first to mail a card and then walked all over town, around both cemeteries, the ball park and down by the Drane house.

Pretty quiet around town today and didn't see anyone else out walking.  Did spot this mama deer and her baby though.  She snorted and stamped her foot at me before running off.
One of the houses for sale in town that was 'by owner' I noticed now has a realtor for sale sign on it now.

I walked 6.1 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
No bowling for us today.  We did an errand for church.  After breakfast we drove up to Duncansville, PA to pick up some more scriptures to put together for the Fingerprints Ministry at church.  It's one hour 45 minutes drive one way.
Here we are back at church in the barn unloading.  We had them covered with a double tarp and it was a good thing because we went through some rain.  It was crazy weather.  One minute it was nice and the next it was pouring down rain that you could hardly see and then out the sun came again.
We got back home a little after 5:00.  After supper we went outback and put some of the crushed rock from yesterday between and around the stone path after first getting all the weeds out.  Eventually crushed rock will go out farther where you can see the dirt now.
It's been a long day and I'm looking forward to my ice cream later. : )

A happy day to you.

A busy day outside

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
We had a lovely visit with David, Hannah, and Charlotte.  I liked Hannah right away and we got along great.  She even went with me on my morning walk on Saturday.  Only 3.3 miles because we did more talking and looking at birds than walking. : )
Her daughter Charlotte is 5 years old and a delightful child.  Not a shy bone in her body and she is so smart.  She loved Ken's trains and even ran them with the controller!!
We look forward to their next visit.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

A perfect morning for a walk today.  51 degrees and sunny.  I walked first to the library and dropped off a book in the slot and then on to the post office to mail off a birthday card.

Walked all over town this morning, up and down all the streets as well as both cemeteries and the ball park loop.

Kathy once out again and I saw Mike walking and two young ladies running.

Walked 6 miles.
Found a dime and a penny.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
This morning we went to Lowe's to get dirt and sand for the other two raised garden beds.  We use a cement mixer to mix the dirt, sand, peat moss, and vermiculite.
 Ready for planting.
After supper I planted eggplant in one and bell peppers in the other.
These other raised beds are Ken's garden and he is going to plant tomatoes and lettuce in them.  We have started all our plants this year from seeds.
After we finished with the beds we went up to Happy Trails and crushed some rock with our rock crusher.  I never get tired of throwing rocks in it and watching them get crushed.
We put some of the crushed rock on the ramp that leads up to the rock crusher.
Took quite a bit crushed rock home too and also harvested some more flat stones for the patio back at the house.  It is coming along nicely and should be finished soon.  I'll post a picture of the progress in the next day or so.

After all our work today we treated ourselves to a supper out at Brenda's of pizza.

The weather for this first day of Summer was perfect.  Sunny, in the 70's with a breeze.

Hope your day was a happy one.
