Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Wednesday

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
The morning started out a bit chilly at 29 degrees, but there was hardly any wind and the sun eventually came up and stayed out and it ended up being beautiful weather for walking.

I walked the Farm Loop today and have passed this farm road many times and always wanted to walk up it but never did because I didn't want to trespass, but today I did.
I thought it probably came out on a field and it did, a little more than a quarter of mile and this was at the top.  The trees in the distance looks a bit like fall leaves but it is the trees starting to get buds on them.
Walked back down the road and continued my route on the Farm Loop.

George passed by and stopped to say hi.  I asked him about his new grand babies and they are doing fine as well as the mothers. : )
Maryanne was out too walking her two dogs.

Once back in town I walked around the industrial park and then home.
Walked 6.3  miles.

Ken went up to Happy Trails for the day.  I thought about going but wanted to take my car out for a drive on such a nice day.  I went up to Oakland to Cato's to see if I could get a denim skirt but they didn't have any.

Came home and had lunch and then did a few things around the house.  Nice day for hanging the sheets out on the line!

I'd never had or even knew what parsnips looked were before the other week when some of them were given to me.  I'd get them mixed with turnips and rutabaga.  The other day I saw all three of them in a row so took a picture.  One of these days I'd like to roast all of them together with some potatoes and carrots.  Wouldn't that be tasty!!
 That's it for today.
A happy day to you.

It was one of those March days
when the sun shines hot
and the wind blows cold:
when is it summer in the light,
and winter in the shade.

Pretty barn picture. What a nice area you have for walking...and scenic, too. You're so dedicated...and an inspiration. Happy Wednesday to you.

Love your top photo Karen. Sounds like you had a nice walk today. We did too. I am looking for a denim skirt too but so far can only find short ones while I prefer longer ones. We plan on visiting Kim in a couple weeks so will look in her city (much bigger than ours) for one. I must try parsnips too!

I have not heard of a rutabaga, they look very much like a swede or turnip? Same sort of flavour I presume?

What an adventure to take a road you had not been on yet. I've not had parsnips but I enjoy rutabagas. Have a great evening.

Every-time I think of rutabaga I think of them as big ugly turnips

Just love those red barns ...

Vegetables are so tasty and I like the picture you've shared... why not have a roast vegetable dinner? I'd add some meat too!

All the best Jan

What a nice day! I do not think I have ever eaten a rutabaga. I purchased me a denim short skirt this past weekend at the mall. I think they are gonna be the "in" thing this summer.

I like your veggie photo. I like to take photos in the produce section, too.
I saw a photo of roasted beets and they looked good. I've always feared beets.
