Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A day alone

✿      ✿     ✿     ✿
This morning was a cloudy one, the temperature was 32 degrees and no wind AND no snow flurries, though there were some snow flurries during the day.

Walked through town and up Sale Barn Rd a ways to see if the cows were out.  I know they are beef cattle but I still refer to them as cows. Sounds nicer. : )  They were out in the field and quite a few of them came over to the fence to see me which always makes me smile.  I stayed and talked to them for a few minutes and took their picture and told them they'd be featured on my blog. A couple of them mooed and I took that to mean thank you. : )

My walk continued back to the main road and then down towards HT, then back to town, around the ball park loop and around the cemeteries.  Didn't blast through both this time, but at one walked around reading some of the gravestones.

Those killdeer were by the pond again and I think they will be making their home there.  I will look forward to seeing the little ones running about. : )  I've said it before but the killdeer running remind me of little roadrunners.

Nice to be outside walking.
Walked 6.2 miles.

When I got back home Ken had already left for a church event (Men's Wild Game Dinner)  and he will be gone all day.

So I had the day to myself.  Got a bit of cleaning done.  Took down the long curtains in the dining room and put up just a valance.  Lets in lots more light this way.  I love a bright house with lots of natural light.  The front of our house is like that but the back is dark.  Not enough windows in the kitchen.  Sometimes I get a crazy idea about taking down the kitchen cabinets that are on the outside wall and putting in all windows.  I think I might be watching too many home improvement shows.  : ) My favorite show is Fixer Upper with Joanna and Chip Gaines.  Boy does she come up with some great ideas.
I've got a good deal of reading done and got some knitting done while listening to an audio book.

One thing I do often when Ken is away for the day is to have pancakes for supper and that is what I did today.  I added some mini chocolate chips in to the batter.  With syrup and a dab of whipped cream it was like eating dessert for supper.  Yum!!

So now it's time for a little television, making weave-its, and of course my ice cream.  Then I'll read until Ken gets home.
Hope your day has been a happy one.

Adam - Our library does the same thing so even though it is a small town library we can get any book we want.

I am reminded of why I have never been a big fan of eating beef. I much prefer to keep them as "cows" and "friends".
I am now curious to know what the men do at a Men's Wild Game Dinner. I can't say I have heard of that one before.
I was interested to read about how you spend an alone day. I usually try to have projects to do on those days too.
I am in the process of baking chocolate chip cookies. It was a sad day around here when the freezer supply of the famous chocolate chippers ran out. I can't have that cute cookie jar sitting empty so I have taken matters into my own hands :D.

So neat when the cows come over to see you! Occasionally they do for me, but more often they just continue grazing and totally ignore me.

Sounds like a lovely day.
Love cows, though they can be a bit scary when they become playful and run at the fence!
Have a lovely week ahead :)

A day at home by yourself is quite nice for a change, isn't it? It's surprising what gets done sometimes.

I do really like Joanna and Chip! I would love for them to decorate my house. I like cows too so I would enjoy visiting with your cow friends. Pancakes with chocolate chips sound yummy! Have a great day!
