Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

A different look for the hutch

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Right at freezing at 32 degrees when I started walking this morning.  A dusting of snow was on the ground and snow flurries were coming down around me.  There were a few icy spots around but didn't cause a problem.  No wind so it wasn't really cold.

I headed out to the post office first and mailed off a birthday card to a friend and then walked all over town.  Went around the cemeteries and the ball park loop a couple of times and another loop around town before heading back home.

Stopped to talk to the horse I named Star.  He usually will come to the fence to see me.
Geese were down by the pond by the Drane house which is about half frozen yet.
The killdeers were around again as well as more robins and the usual crows and I saw lots of rabbit and deer tracks as well.
Didn't see any people around.

Walked 6 miles.

I changed around my hutch today.  Put all the mismatched china that I've collected in the bottom of the hutch.  Then put out some of my Fiesta collection which we use as our every day dishes.  I  collect the original 6 colors and love how they all look against the dark hutch.
Here's a before and after picture.  I like both, just like changing things around which I do often. : )

I just started reading a book yesterday but then the book, Still Life by Louise Penny that I had on hold at the library was ready for pick up.  So I went and got that and started that one too.  Blogger friend Kerri recommended it and I liked it right away.  It is a mystery set in a little town in Canada.

I'll be reading more of that book in just a bit.  Making weave-it squares, a little television, and ice cream awaits for me this evening.

A happy day to you.

  2. Picking up a book on hold from the library.

Linda - Oh yes I remember those two chairs.  Grandma would sit in one and knit on her many afghans.  I remember the mints as well, they were the pink ones.  : )  She used to give us them at church too.  Nice that we share happy memories of grandma. : )

  9. Our library will let us pick things online, and they'll be on hold for a few days for us to pick up whenever. We can even do it for one library and send it to another, at least in the county
