Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Day Twenty-Four of Thanks

Giving Thanks Day Post Twenty-Four
Thank You Notes

You may think that thank you notes are a funny thing to be thankful for,
but I am thankful for them. : )
I know lots of people don't send them out any more and that
is fine, because I don't think we should expect anything in return
when we do something nice for someone not even a thank you note.
But it sure makes me happy when someone takes the time
to write me a note saying thanks.
It surely does brighten my day and I thank
everyone who has ever sent me one. : )
I'm sure I said this before
but I have a basket that I keep all the thank you
notes and cards that I get.
I read them every once in a while.
They always make me smile and sometimes cry too.
But they are happy tears. : )
I read a bunch of them just before I sat down to write this post.
Some of you have sent me one and they are here in this basket
with all the rest.  : )
A happy day to you.
Let it be one of Thanks.
happyone : )

I agree that sending thank you cards is a lot art. It is so nice to get one though. So nice that you keep yours to read over and over.

Just received a thank you note yesterday from a couple we had invited to dinner last Friday night! Such a treat to have them here, and then a treat to hear from them again! I send along wishes to you for a blessed Thanksgiving.

Thank you notes are so wonderful. Someone took the time to tell you that you are appreciated.
I love to send and receive them!

I love thank you notes and am grateful for them also. Though, like you, I don't expect a note when I do something nice. It feels so good to freely give. but I do love to get them. They take time to write i our fast paced world, and a handwritten note on real stationery is beautiful. :)

Thank you notes are indeed a nice thing to be grateful for :)
We all need a nice little 'thank you' sometimes, and I need to send more 'thank you' notes too .

Smiles :)

I love these thank you posts you have been doing. They are really great! I love Thank You notes too. I always had my kids write thank you notes for gifts, but now only one of the four still do it, and that one is teaching her children to write thank you notes too! You and Ken have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I haven't been in blogland a lot this week to read about what your plans are, but I know you will have a happy day!

like magazines, they have taken a downturn due to the electronic age. Though a thankyou on FB or email doesn't seem the same as paper. Just like a real letter

We got SO many cards when our son died last spring, every one of them with a sincere and personal message. They weren't thank you notes, but we are sure thankful for them!

I have saved a lot of thank you notes through the years too. It makes me happy to take them out from time to time and re-read them. I like your idea for keeping them in an easy to access basket.
I hope this practice never completely goes away.

I keep my cards and letters in my grandfather's fishing basket. (I've been out to supper since I was here last. Wondered where I was in my visit with you and the iPad popped right back here. Excellent.) I must tell you that, though I keep all my cards and letters, I am now also keeping my mother's, grandmother's, and even some of my great-grandmother's. Oh my! I am from a long line of sentimental gals.

Isn't it great that there are still a few people who will write on real paper and actually put a stamp on and mail something. Calling it "snail mail" doesn't do it justice! :-)
