Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Red and Blue

☀     ☀     ☀     ☀

Headed out for my walk this morning at 6:30 in the dark and the temperature was 48 degrees.  Didn't see the sun come up because of the clouds, though the sun did break through the clouds eventually.

Walked through and around town and one of the cemeteries and the ball park loop.  The state police was out in town with radar and I saw two speeders getting tickets.

A man who I see often but don't know his name was walking his big white dog and we stopped for a little chat.

Two deer ran out in front of me crossing the street.

Walked 5.5 miles.
Retired another pair of walking shoes today.

I made us pancakes for breakfast and then Ken left for Happy Trails, to bring the tractor back and to put in four windows in the cabin.  I wanted to go along but had to stay home to make cole slaw and chocolate chip cookies for this afternoon.  Also made a loaf of bread, did laundry, and gave the dining room chair a second coat of paint.

We left late afternoon to go over to Edd and Caroline's who invited us over to their place for their yearly BBQ.  LOTS of people there and we all brought good things to eat!  Had a good time. : )

I always enjoy our evenings at home.
Hope your day was a happy one.

When is the last time you skipped?  I did this morning. : )

Hi Karen, Some really excellent photos in recent posts: the red and blue at the top of this post, and the clouds and reflections in water a couple of post ago. Always interesting to follow your blog.

I'm always happy to see a speeder get a ticket. I work with a girl who keeps telling everyone about the tickets she keeps getting. Getting told "don't speed" apparently hasn't gone through her head. I never really go past the speed limit except maybe 5mph or when a hill makes it go faster than expected. On the little roads especially, the speed limit is the fastest you can really go before it gets dangerous to drive on the road.
