Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A new game

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
I left at 6:35 this morning and it was 52 degrees.  It was a cloudy morning but no rain.  I walked the Farm Loop and a loop around town.

Farmer Georg has started harvesting the corn.  He doesn't go up and down the rows but circles around the edges.
Farmer Bill was out too but he was busy out in the field and didn't notice me walking by.

I saw a couple of deer running across a field and some more geese flying in there pretty V formation.

Of all my routes the Farm Loop is the one I like best.  : )
I walked 5.4 miles.

Thank you all for the encouraging words about my decision to let my gray hair grow out.  I'll be showing you my lengthening gray as the months go by.  I'm just letting it grow out naturally and will just get the ends cut off every so often like I normally do.

In the morning we went to Walmart to pick up a few things and in the afternoon I made a batch of Welsh Cookies.  Don't they look like little pancakes?

We were invited to our friends Dennis and Betty's house for dinner (made the cookies for them) this evening and to learn how to play a game with dominoes called Mexican Train.  Dinner was delicious and we had a lot of fun playing the game. : )  So much fun that we played it a little over 3 hours.  There were 7 of us - the same 7 of who went bowling yesterday.

I finished another scarf for my scarf project which makes 7 of them now.
I've enjoyed this day.  : )
Hope your day was a happy one.

Good morning, Love the images of the corn fields and the cows. The cookies are new to me, they look yummy. I have never heard of this game, I am glad everyone had a fun time. Pretty scarf. Have a happy day!

Are your Welsh cookies the same as a girdle scone, they look similar?Or are they a biscuit? Now that is a bit confusing as I think of a biscuit as you think of cookie. And I think you may call a scone a biscuit. Oh dear. Anyway your scarf is very pretty, there's no confusion there :)

Hi Karen, I've had blogging on the back burner for about 3 weeks and this morning noticed that the last comment I left for you was on September 2nd. I did go back and take a look at all the posts since then and, as always, found a lot of neat photos. My favorite photos are the ones you take on your walks, but it has also been fascinating to follow along with the cabin at HT. The cabin is looking great! I liked your thoughts about hair color. My spouse has grey hair and I really like it natural. Sometimes I wonder why people fight getting older. It's funny because I remember thinking when I was just a kid that I would like to be older. :-) Thanks for your blog and your kind comments on mine.

Hi Karen, as always I enjoy taking the walks with you, especially walking the farm loop being a farmer, one always is interested in how other farmers grow and harvest their crops.
Your scarf is so beautiful, love the color combinations.
I haven't been blogging very much lately and have lots of catching up to do. I enjoyed reading about your decision to go gray, I go back and forth with this so much, I am sure you are going to enjoy it!
As always a joy to visit.
Blessings,
Sue

That is a lovely scarf! The dominoes fame looks fun. I've never played that one.

And yes, those cookies indeed look like miniature pancakes. :) And they sure do look yummy too!

It is starting to look like fall on your morning walk. So pretty.
I clicked on your cookie picture and my first thought was English Muffins. I'm sure they taste nothing like that, however.
I have heard of that game before, but never played it. How fun to learn a new game and enjoy it with a group of friends.
Another pretty scarf.

What a fun post! That scarf is quite cheerful and will be lovely around someone's neck. And I must say ... I'm a HUGE fan of Mexican Train Dominoes!! My farmers' market friends introduced me to it, and we now play on a regular basis, and it's a HOOT. We play for hours too. It takes a while to get through an entire game. I hope you get to play again!
I'm still off work today (Wed) b/c schools are closed for flooding, so maybe a batch of cookies is in order. Yours look delicious.
