A beautiful sunny summer day

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
A nice cool 58 degrees this morning and sunny when I went for my walk.  Went around the Farm Loop and a loop around town.

Haven't seen the chickens and roosters out by one of the farms where I used to see them all the time.  They used to roam around in the front yard.  I saw a couple of them today way in the back.  Zoomed in to take a picture of this white one strutting around.
No people out walking this morning.  A quiet beautiful Friday morning and a blessing to be out walking in it.

I walked 5.8 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Ken went off to meet Edd for breakfast and then on to the auction so he was gone when I got back home from walking.

Took my car out and went for a ride.  Went around the block - a big block - a 30 mile one.  Don't get to drive it all that much anymore so I enjoyed my ride. : )

Then it was time to get some house cleaning done and I did that for the rest of the morning.

After lunch I was ready to go outside and do some more weeding out in the yard.  Got the back garden over by the shed all neat and tidy.

I was happy to pick the first two cucumbers from my garden this afternoon.
I made a cucumber salad with them to go along with our grilled hamburgers for supper.
It's been a beautiful sunny summer day.

Hope your day was sunny and bright.

John - That wasn't my town the other day when I took pictures walking by the library.  That was Oakland which is 20 miles away from where I live.  It's the big city compared to my town. : )
Fingerprints is a ministry in our church where we put together a book of the Bible, this time Romans, in another language which are then packed up and sent to missionaries in another countries where they are given away to people to read.  It's called fingerprints because there are many fingerprints on them from all the people putting them together.

Fingerprints Day

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
70 degrees this morning and cloudy on my walk today.  Didn't leave until 7:00 this morning cause I got up later than usual.  While walking it stared to drizzle just a bit but it didn't last long.  I made it back home before it started raining.

I walked down past the HT turn off and then on the way back I turned in at the HT road and walked down to here  where I turned around.  Happy Trails is just up the road.
I saw quite a few gold finches along the edge of the road and a deer and her two young ones.  Didn't see any people out walking.

I walked 4.2 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Shorter walk than usual because it was Fingerprints day at church and had to get home so we could leave for that.  Ken and I worked on the stapler machines with four others getting the booklets stapled together.  We are putting together the gospel of Romans in French.  We always have a good time doing this.  Noon we had a break and had chili dogs for lunch provided by a couple in the church, Sandy and Brian.  Then back to work until 2:00.  We put together 4,000 booklets.  : )

The rest of the afternoon Ken went up to HT and got the nail gun working again and put up another sheet of plywood on the cabin.
I was at home making chili (for my mom and dad) and some pizza dough for our supper which we ate on the porch.

We got a good bit of rain in the morning but then the sun came out and we had a nice sunny day.  There is a cool breeze too and it is very pleasant out.

I plan to do some reading and knitting this evening.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

A full day

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
70 degrees this morning with a thin layer of clouds that in places you could see the sun shining through.

I walked the Farm Loop.  I think this is a field of soy beans.
I saw a deer again this time with two little ones.  They were at the edge of the corn field and then they ran into the corn and disappeared when I walked by.

There is a lot of milk weed along the roads edge around the FL so I'm not surprised to see monarch butterflies.  Haven't been able to get a good picture of one yet though.

When I got back to town I walked around the industrial park before heading back home.  I liked this picture because of the clouds coming over the mountain.
I walked 5.6 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Up to Happy Trails this morning right after breakfast.  In the morning we got a couple more pieces of the plywood up.  Nail gun is still broken so it was slow going again.  Ken still hasn't taken it apart to fix it.
Sitting inside the cabin I feel like I'm in a tree house.  Picture is not that great but you can get the idea.
We only worked on the cabin half a day.  A friend of ours stopped by to take a look at our progress.  We walked around HT for a bit with him too.
After he left we started clearing another trail.  There was a bit of a trail already and we just cleared it up and cut down a few more trees.  This picture is looking back.  At the end of it is our driveway.
We drove the ATV around a bit too which is always fun. : )

Then back home to get cleaned up, have supper and head out to church.
Nice to finally sit in my chair and have my ice cream.  I'm back to chocolate chip mint again.

So that's it for today.  Still a little time left in the day for knitting.

Hope you had a happy day.

Weave-its

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
64 degrees with some low hanging clouds again like yesterday.  Walked up one side of town, around the cemeteries and ball park loop a couple of times and then back home.

The road up to the one cemetery has corn growing on both sides and I can't see anything but corn on both sides.
A short walk of only 4 miles this morning.  Had to leave the first thing this morning for jury duty.

I found 1 penny.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Four other times I was supposed to go for jury duty but each time it was canceled, but today I actually had to go.  Not much came of it though.  Sat through the picking of the jury but I wasn't chosen and was excused.

Ken had dropped me off because he was out and about.  We decided when I got finished we were to meet at the library about a half mile away from the courthouse.  I called him when I was finished and started walking to the library and he said he'd pick me up in about 40 minutes.  Lots of Black Eyed Susan's in the library garden.
Didn't feel like sitting inside the library so went for a little walk down the street.  Snapped a couple of pictures walking along.

Ken dropped me off home and then went to help our neighbor at HT get his tractor unstuck out of the mud.

I got some laundry washed and hung up on the line and made some chicken noodle soup for my Mom and Dad.  I've already made them some Vegetable Bean Soup.  My mom likes soup a lot so thought I'd bring her some.  I've frozen the soups and will put them in a cooler when we go and visit them.  I'm also going to make some chili, chocolate chip cookies, and a lemon cake.

My friend Sherry (hairdresser) offered me one of her books to read and called and said I could pick it up so I walked there and got the book.  Before going I cut some daisies and cone flowers and made a little bouquet and put then in a mason jar to bring to her.

Also walked over to the bank.  So even though I only walked a little in the morning I ended up with walking over 6 miles anyway.  : )

I sat on the porch and finished sewing the squares for the baby blanket together.
I think most of you know about the weave-it squares I make but for those who don't they are made on a 4 inch square weave-it loom. Yarn is put on the loom back and forth three times with enough yarn left over to weave a fourth layer back and forth with a long needle.
Here are the first squares of another baby blanket I've started on.  Baby blankets are made up of 120 squares.  I also make larger afghans using 303 squares.  My gramma taught me to make these when I was a little girl.

Hope your day is sunny and bright.

Robin - no, we aren't putting solar panels in the cabin.  Don't think there is enough sun here and the cabin is under the trees so will get even less.

A working day at HT

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
When I left on my walk this morning it was 60 degrees.  There were some thin low clouds with the sun was filtering through and by the time I was back home the sun was shining brightly.

I walked around the Farm Loop and up the hill behind my house.  When I passed the gas station I spotted Ken there and crossed the street to say hi.  I was home before he was.

Farmer Bill was out and I asked him how the reunion went on Saturday.  He told me it went very well.  Great weather and 90 people were there.

No bears but I did see a deer.
I walked 5 miles.
Didn't find any coins today but yesterday I found a penny.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
We spent the day up at Happy Trail getting some more work done on the cabin.  Things went a little more slowly than usual because the nail gun wasn't working but we still made some good progress.
Got the bump out for the bed area framed out.  The plywood on the roof is temporary.  We are going to put a skylight in there.
We put up two pieces of plywood on the back corners and started to frame out the back bump out.  That will either be for a small wood stove or a built in table and bench.
The days just fly by when we are up at HT working.
Then when I get home there is still stuff I have to do around the house.  It's been a busy day but a good one.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

A field of Sunflowers

Couldn't decide which of the four pictures I liked best so posted all of them.  : )

Psalm 30:11,12
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing:
thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness.

To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent.
Oh Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

A blessed Sunday to you all.

The sunny days are still here.

The sunflowers I planted are not quite blooming yet but a flower is starting.  : )
This one is about 7 feet tall now.
 ✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

56 degrees and sunny when I walked this morning.  There were some low hanging clouds around but they soon disappeared.  Mailed off a Netflix at the post office.

Walked down past the HT turn off a ways, then turned around and headed back to town where I walked around one of the cemeteries and the ball park loop.  Lena was out walking with her dog.  Haven't seen her in a while and we walked a little way together.  Her daughter is Rebecca who I've mentioned before.

Walking past the little town pond I saw all these geese.  There are a few families of them.  All the little ones have grown as big as the parents.  They were making quite a ruckus today.

Saw an older man out walking this morning who I've never seen before.  Wasn't close enough to say good morning.

I walked 5.4 miles.
Found a penny.  : )
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
We went to the Preston County Antique Tractor, Machinery & Vehicle Show in Reedsville, WV today which is about 45 miles from home.  It was much smaller than we thought it would be but had a nice time anyway.  Just the ride there was nice, enjoying the beautiful countryside.

This old truck made me think of the Beverly Hillbillies.  I can just see Granny sitting in the back of it on the rocking chair. : )  Anyone remember that old television show?

There was small craft section at the show and I bought 4 place mats that I woman made.  When I got home I put them on the dining room table.  Cut some daisies and cone flowers from the yard and put them in the old mason jar.
Our car was very dirty and neither one of us felt like washing it so we both went out and did it together.  Got in done in half the time.  What a team we are. : )

It's been another beautiful summer day.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

Rock Crusher

Went to bed late last night (2:30) and didn't get up till 7:30.  Planned to walk later in the day but never did get around to it.  That's what happens, if I don't go in the morning I usually don't walk at all.  Well I guess we all need a day off once in a while.

We made it official today, had the closing on the land and Happy Trails is now 5 acres bigger than it was.

Later in the afternoon Ken went up to HT to hook the back hoe back onto the tractor because he has to dig a ditch for a friend tomorrow.  Before he did that though he took a couple of videos of the rock crusher working and put it on YouTube.  Here are the two links if you want to see it.  I'm sure you will like it!!  It is really cool.

Rock Crusher Part 1

Rock Crusher Part 2

While he was doing that I got the lawn mowed back at the house and then weeded one of the back gardens.

We had grilled cheese sandwiches for supper sitting on the front porch. : )

Another sunny day. : )

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Another beautiful walking morning.  55 degrees and sunny with a few clouds.  I walked the Farm Loop again and around town.
A couple of pictures along my way.

A few people have told/warned me that they have seen a big bear cross the street here from one side of the woods to the other.  I've not seen it though.  I wish I would but at the same time I don't want to.  I'm sure it would just ran away from me but still I would be a bit apprehensive.  Today I saw a couple of deer off to the right and another one off to the left.
Saw a fourth deer by the corn field again.

George was out in his yard and I stopped for a little chat and I saw him again once a got back to town.  Farmer Bill was out too and stopped for a chat with him too.  He's getting things ready for a big family reunion this weekend including a square dance.  Hope this nice weather holds out for them.

Today I walked 5.7 miles.
Found a penny.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
While I was out walking Ken went and got some more lumber here in town for the cabin.  He was home for breakfast and I made us pancakes with strawberries.  Then he went up to HT and I stayed home this morning again.  I fed the birds, dumped some of the crushed stone out on the stone patio, did some laundry and hung it out on the line.  Many other things I wanted to do before lunch but ran out of time.  Ken was home for lunch and again like yesterday I went up to HT with him for the afternoon.

Ken got the purlins up on the front part of the roof and painted.  Didn't take a picture because you can't see all that much of a difference from yesterday.  He also started framing out the bump out by the bed.

I picked up more dead fall and added it to the natural fence.  Also cut down a few small trees with the bow saw and added them to the fence too.

When I got tired of doing that I sat in a chair and did some reading and when Ken needed something, I'd go and get it.

It was a beautiful sunny day and temperature in the 70's - delightful weather.  I love summer here.  : )

The other day we picked up some ice cream at Martins.  I got the store brand of chocolate chip and it was really good.  I'll be having some more of that later this evening.

Hope your day went well and you smiled often.
A happy day to you.

A beautiful sunny day : )

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Woke up to a beautiful sunny morning.  : )  Not a cloud in sight with cool refreshing air and a temperature of 50 degrees.  Perfect walking weather.

I walked the Farm Loop.
I saw a deer running along beside one of the corn fields and then it darted in between the rows of corn.  All the usual birds out and also saw a gray cat bird.  Don't see many of them around here.

Joyce was out walking to get her coffee and Lisa was out for her morning run.  She mentioned how much she like the daisies in my yard and I told her she could come any time take some of them to plant in her garden.

Also walked around town.
My walk today was 5.8 miles.
Found a quarter.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
When I got home from walking Ken had already left for Happy Trails.  He said he wouldn't do any high up work while I wasn't there.

I got some things done around the house in the morning and after lunch I went up to HT.

I sifted the stone we crushed into two sizes and put them in buckets and brought them back to the house.  We will use is it on the back stone patio we started last year.  Hoping we can finish that this year too.  We have laid out stone and this crushed stone will go between the stones.
Ken worked on the cabin putting up the front roof rafters.  They are short and will be the overhang on the porch.  He put up 12 of 13. No time for the last one.
We just have time to eat and then off to church.
It's been a good day. : )
Hope your day has been a good one.

Swallowtail

Male eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly poses on my cone flowers for a picture.
Didn't notice the bee until I looked at the picture.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
I couldn't get to sleep last night lay in bed awake until 1:00 then I got up and finished the book I was reading at 2:30.  Then when I went back to bed I fell asleep right away.  Woke up at 7:00 and went walking.  It was 68 degrees and cloudy.  Dropped off the book in the book drop at the library and then mailed a card at the post office and walked around the one of the cemeteries.  By that time it was pouring down rain and I just didn't feel like walking in it and was back home after only walking 2. 3 miles.

Today has been one of those days when everything is just a bit off with me, maybe because I didn't get enough sleep but I just didn't feel like happyone for most of the day.

I got an iPad for my birthday back in May and this morning I got so frustrated trying to figure how to use the thing that I wanted to smash it.  I don't know why this is so hard - children can do this.  I did manage to do a few things eventually.  I think I will learn it in small doses.  Maybe it won't be so frustrating that way.

Today we had periods of rain and sun and didn't get any work done up at HT.  Ken went up there once during a dry period but once he got up there it rained.  He came home and the sun came out.  So we went out and did a few errands.  I finally got a new hummingbird feeder and put that up.  No birds yet but hopefully some will come.

In the afternoon I sat down in the chair and fell fast asleep and woke up an hour and a half later.  I'm not a napping type person so this was unusual for me.

I'm feeling back to my old self this evening and look forward to a great day tomorrow.  : )

The sunflowers in front of the dining room windows have really grown tall.  Seems like we can see them growing.  No flower yet though.
I hope your day  has been a happy one.

Queen Anne's Lace

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
This morning it was a warm 70 degrees and cloudy.  About a mile from home a light misty rain started but later in the morning the sun came out.

I walked the Farm Loop and the loop around town.
Joyce was out walking this morning to Hartman's to get her coffee.

I met a woman on the FL named Elaine who is visiting her father who owns the farm with the red barn I take lots of pictures of.
I've met her brother Eric before who lives in a house on the farm too and does most the work on the farm now that their dad is 91 years old.

I saw Mike out taking his morning walk too.

There were three deer in one of the fields but were too far away to get a good picture of.

I walked 5.5 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
We met 5 of our friends at the bowling lanes in Keyser again for another 3 games of bowling.  Today was not a good day bowling wise for me.  Me three games were 74, 95, and 109 in that order.  But still it was fun.  We plan to go again next week.

On the way home we stopped in La Vale and did a little shopping at Martins.  Right down the street from there they are building an Aldi Grocery store and I look forward to when it is open and we can check it out.  I've heard they have good prices.

Stopped home to unpack the groceries and then got back in the car and went to Brenda's for some pizza for supper.

Down in Keyser it was 92 degrees but back home it was only 78.
 It's been happy, busy day.
Hope your day as been a happy one too.

Shuffleboard

Daisies and cone flowers in my back yard
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Woke up this morning to a thunder storm.  Though I will walk in rain, I don't during a thunder storm so I did my exercise tape first thing when I got up.  By the time I was finished with that the storm had passed so I went for my walk.  It was 68 degrees and still cloudy but the sun was soon shining brightly. : )

Stayed around town this morning and for my walk.  This is the stream behind the ball park and it is all muddy from the rain.
One of the horses down by the Drane House came over when I walked by.  She stuck her head through the wire.  She was hoping for a goodie but I just petted her which she seemed to like just fine.
Saw George in town and we stopped and had a little chat.
I walked 5.2 miles.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Home this morning getting some things done around the house.  Right after lunch I brought those chocolate chip cookies I made the other day and off we went to a Super Senior outing at Chester and Linda's house for a day of playing shuffleboard.
Ken and I were a team and we played 4 games - lost two and won two.  Ken played a few more games than I did.  There was lots of good food to eat too and we all had a good time. : )

Hope your day has been a happy one.
