Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

A full day

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
70 degrees this morning with a thin layer of clouds that in places you could see the sun shining through.

I walked the Farm Loop.  I think this is a field of soy beans.
I saw a deer again this time with two little ones.  They were at the edge of the corn field and then they ran into the corn and disappeared when I walked by.

There is a lot of milk weed along the roads edge around the FL so I'm not surprised to see monarch butterflies.  Haven't been able to get a good picture of one yet though.

When I got back to town I walked around the industrial park before heading back home.  I liked this picture because of the clouds coming over the mountain.
I walked 5.6 miles.

Up to Happy Trails this morning right after breakfast.  In the morning we got a couple more pieces of the plywood up.  Nail gun is still broken so it was slow going again.  Ken still hasn't taken it apart to fix it.
Sitting inside the cabin I feel like I'm in a tree house.  Picture is not that great but you can get the idea.
We only worked on the cabin half a day.  A friend of ours stopped by to take a look at our progress.  We walked around HT for a bit with him too.
After he left we started clearing another trail.  There was a bit of a trail already and we just cleared it up and cut down a few more trees.  This picture is looking back.  At the end of it is our driveway.
We drove the ATV around a bit too which is always fun. : )

Then back home to get cleaned up, have supper and head out to church.
Nice to finally sit in my chair and have my ice cream.  I'm back to chocolate chip mint again.

So that's it for today.  Still a little time left in the day for knitting.

Hope you had a happy day.

  3. Hello Karen,

You always have such beautiful nature pictures. I've been doing my morning walks now for a few weeks and am up to about 1.3 miles. This morning will be the first that I walk in the rain. :-)

I'm enjoying watching the cabin at HT progress. It is looking good!

I left a note for you over at the blog.

  4. Great progress on the cabin. It does look like you are in a tree house. Beautiful photo of the milkweed. I haven't been able to get a photo of a Monarch Butterfly yet too.

  5. Oh, that's looking good! Interesting design, and it will have the feeling of a tree house sitting on that front deck.

  6. Cute quote today :D.
Yes, I can see why you feel like you're in a tree house. It does have that feeling about it. Very nice.
Sounds like that ice cream was well deserved.

  7. I am so in awe of this LOVELY place to walk...the beauty is just breathtaking! Milk weed blooms just make my heart go pitter patter...they are gone here now but I was able to have a photo shoot in a field of them earlier this summer. Your cabin is going to be such a wonderful place...I miss ours that was sold last September. Happy Thursday :)

  9. That used to be Adam's favorite ice cream. Cabin's looking good! It really does feel like a tree house. I think you'll love it so much -- so quiet out there. A real retreat. The trees all around make it feel so secure. I do love that part of the world.

  10. It is like a tree house in there! My daughter hopes to begin clearing her land to build a similar structure. Course she hops about a bit with her ideas so who knows?!

  11. It's good to hear about the milkweed. Monarchs are becoming quite rare in part because of milkweed declines.
