Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Buttons

Tons of Buttons
☂     ☂     ☂     ☂

A rainy morning walk today.  Temperature was 48 degrees with a bit of a breeze.  Dressed in my rain pants and yellow slicker.  Left the umbrella home but should have taken it with me because the wind blew the rain into my face where it ran down my neck and  dripped down to my shirt. I was pretty wet by the time I got home.  At least it wasn't cold and I was walking outside.

Walked around town and the cemeteries and the ball park loop, all traces of snow gone from there now.  Then I headed over to the industrial park and then home.

Didn't see anyone else out today.
I walked 6.1 miles.

Had a good time with the ladies last night and my Black and White cookies were a success.  There were a few kinds of soup and my favorite was a homemade chicken noodle.  It might just be the best I've ever eaten.  Someone brought a salad that I really liked.  It had nuts, cranberries, oranges slices mixed in with different kinds of lettuce with a delicious dressing.

It's been a rainy and dreary day and but I've been inside where it is nice and dry doing some cleaning, reading and working on the weave-it square baby blanket.

Hope your Saturday as been a good one and you smiled often.

Update on my mom -  This coming Thursday the 19th, is the date set for my mom's open heart surgery.  Please keep those prayers coming.  Thanks.

When we put our cares in His hands,
He put His peace in our hearts.

Oh I love buttons! :) I have a few tins of my grandmother's buttons. When our granddaughters were here from Maine last spring I planned an art project using some of those buttons. The project was a hit! :)

I will surely be praying for your mom this week!

Hope all goes well for your mom.

That is a big deal surgery. If I remember correctly she had excellent health through most of her aging years. Maybe that base line will help her in recovery from this surgery. I remember my husband's Grandmother had abdominal aortic surgical repair of an aneurism in her 80's and she recovered - it was very hard, but she did eventually get well. She had excellent health before the surgery so it was like money in the bank when she needed it. Hoping the same for your mom.

I just love the buttons! I collected them when I was a little girl and so did mom. Sweet memory.

I will surely say prayers for your Mom.

Chicken noodle soup is my very favorite. Especially this time of year and when it is homemade! I also love black and white cookies, though it haven't made any in a very long time. So thank you for reminding me of them!

Hello, Just got home from a nice trip to Arkansas to celebrate George's birthday. I will blog about it tomorrow.

Now--it's time to start working in the yard, cleaning up all of the 'junk' from the ice storm. What a mess!!!

Hope you are doing well. Glad your snow is finally gone and that you can walk outside (despite the rain). We had a gorgeous day here today (SUNNY and WARM).. YEAH!!!! Spring is coming.

Hugs,
Betsy

Thursday the 19th? I'll know my answer when I read the font... Yes, praying for your mom to come through with flying colors and to feel better than she has in a long time. That's what I hear from others who have had it done...that in spite of the surgery the results are so good that folks feel better right away.
