Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking Outside

☀     ☀     ☀     ☀
Got up, looked at the thermometer and saw that it read 20 degrees so I bundled up and went outside for my morning walk. : )  I left at 7:00 and there was a mix of sun and clouds.

I first walked to the library and dropped a book off in the book drop and then headed on over to the post office and mailed off a Netflix (Broadchurch, very good show), and then walked up to the cemetery.  Couldn't walk around it though because of the ice.  There was ice on about half the roads so I just walked where I could.  I walked up to the industrial park and walked around there.  Though it was 20 degrees there was a strong wind which made it feel a lot colder and at times the wind would blow right through all my layers.  There are two flags in the picture below and you can see how windy it is by how they are blowing straight out.
After walking a few miles I was just going to head home because I was getting cold but then the sun came out again and I changed directions and it didn't seem so cold so I just stayed out and got my full 6 miles in.  Sure was getting out of the basement and outside to walk. : )

Finished the latest puzzle that I've been working on this afternoon.  I have one more left to do that I haven't done before.  Ken was cleaning out a cabinet in the garage some weeks ago and found this puzzle and another one.  He bought them in 2013 for Christmas, hid them and then forgot about them.
Late this afternoon I started getting a headache and it got worse and worse and my stomach wasn't feeling so great either.  I took a couple of aspirin took a little nap but it didn't help.  Slept some more and than about 7:00 I felt fine again.  I didn't feel good  for only 3 hours but it was long enough for us to miss church this evening which started at 7:00.  God must have wanted us to stay home this evening for some reason.

I'm going to do some more knitting on the scarf I'm working on and I might even finish it tonight.

Hope your day has been happy and bright.

Kim - Yes, there is another stairway to the basement inside the house. Our basement is all finished and is part of the house.  Here's a picture of the inside stairs for you.  : )

Eileen - Yes, I'll post the recipe for the Black and Whites when I make them.

I am so sorry you weren't feeling well this afternoon! It is not fun for me to have to miss church. That was a very brisk wind to keep those flags blown out that way! I'm glad you were able to make it outside for your walk. Take care of yourself!

You are so sweet to post a picture of your indoor basement steps for me. Thanks. I also like the "to the trains" sign. I don't think I've seen basement steps on the outside before, so I wondered if that was the only way you had to get down there. Now the mystery is solved :).
So glad you were able to walk outside again. The sky in the first shot is so pretty.
I'm sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well today. Hope you have nipped it in the bud now.

I'm glad you could outside for a walk as well. I'll bet you enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the train sign. Hoping you don't have a relapse of whatever hit you earlier.
Yes, that hedge is at least 60 years old, if not more. About 12-14 foot high and probably 6 to 8 foot through, a real job to bring it down.

Glad you got feeling better. I get bad, bad headaches when I get dehydrated, but sometimes it takes several hours of drinking lots of water to feel better. :-) So glad you got to walk outside thismorning. I do like that puzzle! Will look for you tomorrow...

I'm glad that you were able to get outside for your walk yesterday. That sun has really been a blessing these last couple of days.

I'll look forward to seeing your scarf when it is completed. How many puzzles have you worked this winter? The ones I've seen have been beautiful.

I've been thinking about Black and Whites ever since I saw your recent post. :)

Glad you fought that bug off in 3 hours! Good work! I imagine it's because you are in such good physical and spiritual shape. Mary Jo

Good that the ill feeling passed quickly. I always think sleeping it off is a great idea. No need to stay awake for that! I don't know, Karen, if those flags are an indication of how cold it was....brrrr....

I enjoyed Broadchurch, too. I'm glad you were able to walk outside today. We walked at the mall again. It's snowy and freezing here.
I'm glad your illness was quick. I hope you're feeling ship shape!

Your pictures today are really beautiful. It looks like that was a fun puzzle to do.
God works in mysterious ways. Yes, I believe you were meant to stay home.

Oh my, your sunrise image is amazing!

Glad your headache and stomach issues didn't last long. The walk in the cold, windy weather would have been enough to make my head hurt. (Usually is a change in the barometer, I think.) Sorry you had to miss church.

I had to laugh about Ken forgetting about the puzzles! It's not like we haven't had that happen around here - buying gifts ahead of time and then forgetting about them. :-D

After 13 below, 20 would have been OK without that wind. It makes a huge difference. I can hardly believe how cold and snowy it is where you live. Sounds like New England!
