Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cold

It's even too cold for Mr Snowman to go out so he sits inside today.
☃     ☃     ☃     ☃
This morning it was only 10 degrees, snowing and very windy.  I was going to give walking outside a try but Ken suggested a walk in the basement might be a better idea.  I took this picture looking out the dining room window on the way to the basement.

I walked three times in the basement.  First time walking 2.5 miles, second time 2.5 miles and the last time 1 mile for a total of my usual 6 miles.  I go down with the intent to walk 2 miles and put 8 clothespins out.  For each 500 steps, which is about a quarter of a mile,  I put a clothespin back in the basket.  It breaks the walk up and 2 miles go by pretty quickly.  When I get done I put 8 more out for next time and like today sometimes I go a little farther so the last time I only had to walk 2000 steps.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments about the baby sweater.  I've been working on the hat now and I might even finish it today.

I've started the next puzzle.  Have all the pieces spread out on the table and the border is done except for a couple of pieces.  I'll take a picture tomorrow when I have a little more done.

It's been snowing on and off all day and very cold.  About 3:30 we bundled up and went outside to clear the driveway and clean off the truck.  It was only 8 degrees and we could see some blue sky but as soon as we got outside it started snowing again and we felt like we were in a blizzard.  There's Ken with the snow blower.
This is at the end of the driveway looking up the road toward town.
With such cold weather and more snow coming we decided to stay home this evening and not go to church.

I'll be reading and knitting sitting right by the pellet stove.
I have a feeling I'll be having another inside walking day tomorrow.
Hope you've had a happy day and are keeping nice and warm.

Winter has truly arrived for you! We have cold predicted for tonight, and the wind is really fierce, but we have no snow. Local schools are on a two-hour delay in the morning.

I thought of you this morning and was hoping you were inside where it was warm. These cold temperatures and more snow make for some treacherous roads...I'm glad you stayed in this evening.

It was -21C (-6F) here today, so I skipped my walk too!

That was very wise to do your walking inside. Looks like you received more snow than we did.

It's too cold. Period. I feel so bad for the wildlife. We are presently minus 6 with windchill of minus 22. We are being warned that it will possibly reach minus 30 by late Thursday morning. :(

Stay safe and warm!

I've been trying to catch up this morning on blogs. I just love all your beautiful snowy pictures! And your baby sweater is precious. Hope the weather warms up for everyone soon. It is even cold here in southeast Texas at 27 this morning. Keep warm!

Hi Happyone, I was on the road for a couple of days and had to catch up on your last three posts ... all of them are excellent! I enjoyed all your pics of the snow and cold. I was in Montana for a while and one day it got down to -13 degrees. So, I know what your going through there. Now, I think that idea with the clothes pins is very clever. And the little sweater looks great. Thanks for sharing all, and thanks for your comments on my blog. John

You and Mr. Snowman have the right idea. It looks super cold out there. It's cold enough here to put a layer of ice on the pond overnight. I hope my goldfish aren't freezing under there.
I like your system for keeping track of your miles in the basement.

Brrrr....I wouldn't venture out in that cold either. I like your clothespin idea for keeping track of your basement walk. Do you wear a meter to measure how far you've walked. I've been out everyday this week walking. It's been cold but no snow so that is why I'm venturing out.

You are a dedicated walker. I don't have a basement but when the weather is not conducive to walking outside and I have time to walk, I go to our community fitness room and walk on the "dreadmill." Sometimes I walk on it even in good weather because I can set it on 15% slope and get a good workout walking "uphill."
