Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

An afternoon walk

Look at the beautiful blue sky.
☃     ☃     ☃     ☃
This morning when I got up it was 19 degrees, icy and some light snow flurries were coming down.  It was supposed to turn warmer and sunny so I waited to see what the afternoon would bring.

I am invited to another baby shower and this one is on February 7.  I don't think I have enough time to make another sweater like the last one, but I found a simpler pattern and think I'll have plenty of time.  So I've started knitting it today.  I still have some yellow yarn left over from the last sweater so this one will be yellow too.
We were running a bit low on pellets for the pellet stove so Ken went and got another pallet of pellets. That sounds like a bit of a tongue twister. : ) He's unloading them off the truck and stacking them up in the garage.

After lunch it had warmed up a couple of degrees above freezing and the sun was shining brightly and there was no wind.  So you all know what I did - walked outside.  : )
I was limited to where to walk because there were slippery spots and I avoided them.  There was plenty of places I could walk though and I enjoyed every second I was out there walking.

I walked around the one cemetery that had a cleared path and met a couple out walking up there too.  Then I headed out of town and walked along the main road and then went up Sale Barn Road.  That is where I took the picture of the beautiful blue sky.  Farther up along the road on top of the hill there is hardly any snow at all.
Headed back into town, walked around the cemetery again and then headed home.  I walked 6.4 miles.
Once I got home I shoveled the rest of the snow off the driveway up along the side of the garage.  When I walked in the house I was singing, happy to have been able to walk outside.  Walking in the basement just doesn't send out those happy endorphins to the brain like being outside does. : )

I did a good bit of reading my book because I have to have it finished by tomorrow evening which is when my book club meets.  This is a good book and I'm curious to know how the others liked it.   I'll post about the book tomorrow.

Ken cooked hot Italian sausages outside on the grill for our supper tonight.  I made some baked beans to go along with it.  We usually eat the sausages with peppers and onions but today we put them on hot dog rolls.  Yummy, they were so good.

Hope your day was sunny and bright.
happyone : )
For one minute,
walk outside,
stand there,
in silence,
look up at the sky,
and contemplate
how amazing life is.

Kim -  I was quite sore today after my exercising from yesterday.  My triceps and biceps were sore, but a good feeling sore, like I did some good.  It is surprising how quickly one gets out of shape.  But then it doesn't take long to get back there again either.  It will take me about two weeks to be back where I was.

Nellie - We do plan to frame the two puzzles.  Ken will put some molding around them for the frame.  I'll take pictures and show you what he did when we do it.

I thought about you yesterday, wondering if you were able to be outside and walking. There is nothing that quite compares with being outside and moving! Glad you were able to be out again.

I'll be looking forward to seeing the new baby sweater when it is completed. You do such beautiful work.

Have a wonderful day!

That photo almost looks like spring is coming, but we know better, right?

That blue sky is amazing!! So happy you were able to walk outside. We've had horrible wind and much needed rain here that has made it too cold to walk long distances most days. Thankfully this weekend is forecast to be much warmer and I'm looking forward to a nice long walk or two!

It looks as if you had a beautiful day for your walk. We're hopping to see some sunshine tomorrow -- I've almost forgotten what the sun looks like!

That rich color in the sky makes a real nice contrast with the blue snow. Speaking of flurries, I Googled blogger + snow to get a light, flurry effect on the blog. It's hardly noticeable, though. I started to leave a comment on Wednesday's post, but the computer couldn't find the page. Then, comment notification alerted me that you left a comment at my page as I was reading yours. :-)

Oh brrr....Even a blue sky seems cold on a day like that. - Good for you getting out walking. I missed today because I didn't feel well enough to be outside and it was in the 30's here.
