Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

An afternoon walk

Look at the beautiful blue sky.

This morning when I got up it was 19 degrees, icy and some light snow flurries were coming down.  It was supposed to turn warmer and sunny so I waited to see what the afternoon would bring.

I am invited to another baby shower and this one is on February 7.  I don't think I have enough time to make another sweater like the last one, but I found a simpler pattern and think I'll have plenty of time.  So I've started knitting it today.  I still have some yellow yarn left over from the last sweater so this one will be yellow too.
We were running a bit low on pellets for the pellet stove so Ken went and got another pallet of pellets. That sounds like a bit of a tongue twister. : ) He's unloading them off the truck and stacking them up in the garage.

After lunch it had warmed up a couple of degrees above freezing and the sun was shining brightly and there was no wind.  So you all know what I did - walked outside.  : )
I was limited to where to walk because there were slippery spots and I avoided them.  There was plenty of places I could walk though and I enjoyed every second I was out there walking.

I walked around the one cemetery that had a cleared path and met a couple out walking up there too.  Then I headed out of town and walked along the main road and then went up Sale Barn Road.  That is where I took the picture of the beautiful blue sky.  Farther up along the road on top of the hill there is hardly any snow at all.
Headed back into town, walked around the cemetery again and then headed home.  I walked 6.4 miles.
Once I got home I shoveled the rest of the snow off the driveway up along the side of the garage.  When I walked in the house I was singing, happy to have been able to walk outside.  Walking in the basement just doesn't send out those happy endorphins to the brain like being outside does. : )

I did a good bit of reading my book because I have to have it finished by tomorrow evening which is when my book club meets.  This is a good book and I'm curious to know how the others liked it.   I'll post about the book tomorrow.

Ken cooked hot Italian sausages outside on the grill for our supper tonight.  I made some baked beans to go along with it.  We usually eat the sausages with peppers and onions but today we put them on hot dog rolls.  Yummy, they were so good.

Hope your day was sunny and bright.
happyone : )
For one minute,
walk outside,
stand there,
in silence,
look up at the sky,
and contemplate
how amazing life is.

Kim -  I was quite sore today after my exercising from yesterday.  My triceps and biceps were sore, but a good feeling sore, like I did some good.  It is surprising how quickly one gets out of shape.  But then it doesn't take long to get back there again either.  It will take me about two weeks to be back where I was.

Nellie - We do plan to frame the two puzzles.  Ken will put some molding around them for the frame.  I'll take pictures and show you what he did when we do it.

  1. That blue sky just never ceases to amaze me.

  2. Glad you could get outside for a walk, and that sky is beautiful.

  3. What beautiful blue sky! How neat that you are able to knit another baby sweater! There is nothing more special than a handmade gift. Good for being able to get outside and walk! Stay warm!

  4. That is certainly a beautiful sky! Glad you were finally able to walk outside again. :)
I like the pattern you have chosen for the next baby sweater.

  5. I am glad you were able to take your walk outside.. I love the pretty blue sky shot.. I like the cute sweater pattern, it will look cute. Have a happy day!

  6. So glad you got to walk outside today. What a beautiful blue sky. It was rainy and cool here on Tuesday. Can't wait to see the framed puzzles and the new baby sweater.

  7. Yay for blue skies, and nice walking weather :)

Glad you are all stocked up on pellets for your stove too!

  8. I thought about you yesterday, wondering if you were able to be outside and walking. There is nothing that quite compares with being outside and moving! Glad you were able to be out again.

I'll be looking forward to seeing the new baby sweater when it is completed. You do such beautiful work.

    Have a wonderful day!

  9. Hooray for walking outside and it looks like a very pretty day to be out there.
You've got me curious about the book.
The sweater looks so cute. Another lucky baby coming up :).

  10. Lucky are the moms-to-be that know Happy One! So wonderful, the way you spread sunshine in so many lovely ways! Mary Jo

  11. That photo almost looks like spring is coming, but we know better, right?

  12. That blue sky is amazing!! So happy you were able to walk outside. We've had horrible wind and much needed rain here that has made it too cold to walk long distances most days. Thankfully this weekend is forecast to be much warmer and I'm looking forward to a nice long walk or two!

  13. It looks as if you had a beautiful day for your walk. We're hopping to see some sunshine tomorrow -- I've almost forgotten what the sun looks like!

  14. That rich color in the sky makes a real nice contrast with the blue snow. Speaking of flurries, I Googled blogger + snow to get a light, flurry effect on the blog. It's hardly noticeable, though. I started to leave a comment on Wednesday's post, but the computer couldn't find the page. Then, comment notification alerted me that you left a comment at my page as I was reading yours. :-)

  15. Oh brrr....Even a blue sky seems cold on a day like that. - Good for you getting out walking. I missed today because I didn't feel well enough to be outside and it was in the 30's here.

Hello my friend.
