Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Tuesday

I thought these cone flowers looked pretty all in a row next to a white building while walking this morning.

This morning it was 54 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds, some of which were low and I walked through them.

I walked the Farm Loop once again and then around town.

I heard something run in the grass on the side of the road as I walked by.  It was a ground hog and I don't know who was startled more, me or the ground hog. : )

Only a couple of cars usually pass me along the farm loop but today 8 cars must have passed me and they all passed  within a couple minutes.  It was nice when it was quiet again and I could only hear some mooing cows off in the distance.

I saw the woman who walks to get her coffee at Hartman's each morning and we stopped for a little chat.  I think she told me her name once before but I had forgotten and she told me again today that it was Joyce.

I went behind the ball park loop by the little brook and walked along the path.  It doesn't go in very far but I like it back here.
Then it was time to head home.
I walked 6.3 miles.

Ken was outside right after breakfast to work on the water feature putting stones around the outside edge. Next he has to put in the liner.  That's been ordered and should be coming in the mail this week.
I baked some bread in my bread machine.  Most times I just use the white bread recipe but today I'm trying Summer Whole Wheat Bread.  It's still in the machine so no picture of it.
I'm going outside to do a little weeding and then to sit on the front porch and do a little reading.

Hope your day is a good one and you smiled often.

mzzbev -  I live in the most western part of Maryland you can be, very close to Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  I walk first thing in the morning around 6:30.  The temperature I post is low because it is in the early morning.  A normal summer day is in the 70's.  Once in a while it gets in the 80's and very rarely in the 90's.  We haven't had any 90 days this year yet.  This afternoon it made it in the 80's.

Kerin - No, growing season isn't that long here.  Can't put things out till after Memorial Day and the first snow usually comes in October.

You have found lovely routes for your walks and cover a good distance. I must mention I like the pink kayak and pink outfit too.

The patio just keeps getting better and better. The cone flowers do look beautiful and the ground cover...everlasting...looks so much more healthy than mine these days.

Quite pretty coneflowers; so summery.

Ken is doing a wonderful job on the patio, and water feature. I imagine you'll have many peaceful evenings in that spot :)

Homemade bread sounds divine. It's on my list to make this week, along with some homemade cinnamon rolls.

Have a nice day.

Warm regards,
Kerin, from Mill Hill Meadow :)

Love the cone flowers! I wonder whose garden that groundhog uses for his dinner table.:-( They can really ruin a vegetable garden. Ken is very handy to take care of that water feature!

The taste of butter melting into warm, just baked bread is one of life's true pleasures!

The water garden will be nice. I put one in at my last house and miss it a lot. It was so peaceful sitting on the deck listening to the little waterfall, and it attracted all kinds of wildlife.

That path is so inviting. I see a path like that, I just want to start walking and exploring, don't you? Art

You had me a 'baking bread". I do feel a bit better today. The oxygen at night really helps me get a solid sleep. So then I am more capable of doing better during the day. I don't know what I would do if I lived alone. My HM is so sweet and supportive.

I do love those cone flowers up against the white building and your misty morning shots.
It would be so pleasant to walk a country road and only hear farm animals. Reminds me of when we first moved to Arizona. Someone near us had mules and roosters. I LOVED hearing them. :-)

I have a bread machine recipe for Applesauce Oatmeal Bread that I make regularly. If you'd like the recipe, shoot me an e-mail on my Contact me page.

I had a long day yesterday but got in a short neighborhood walk and was delighted to see several goldfinches feasting on the seeds of cone flowers planted in a neighborhood garden. The birds are like flying jewels. So I decided to return to your post with the nice cone flower photo and add a post. Art
