Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Farmer Bill's Sunflowers

Walking into a cloud hanging cloud this morning
❤     ❤     ❤     ❤
Sure didn't feel like August this morning.  I couldn't believe it was only 42 degrees - that is only 10 degrees away from freezing.  Still it was great to be out there walking.
The sun was out and it was a beautiful morning.

An extra special walk this morning.  Coming out on the other side of the cloud in the above picture is where Farmer Bill's farm is.  He was out in his yard by the house and came over to talk to me.  He told me to come across the street to one of his fields with him and he showed me all what he was growing there. Sweet corn - the only farmer around here that I know of that grows corn for people and not the animals.  He picked an ear off the stalk, broke it in half and we ate it just like that.  I'd never done that before!!  He had a lot of different kinds of beans, (we ate some of them too) personal sized watermelons, a variety of peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, and different kinds of sunflowers.  We walked up and down the rows and he talked about all the different things he was growing. It was really cool.

I really liked his beautiful sunflowers and I took a picture of some different kinds.  I don't remember the different names but here's a sampling of them.
Farmer Bill gave me a large zucchini and a handful of Roma Green Beans.  That was all I could carry and my hands were freezing.  When we got out of the field he went and got a bag for me to carry home my goodies.

I continued on my walk along the Farm Loop and a around town with my bag of produce and a smile.  Didn't have to walk around town much because Farmer Bill and I walked almost a mile up and down the rows on his farm.  What a great way to start my day. : )

I walked 6.2 miles.

Flitting about home today getting things done in and out of the house.
It's been a beautiful sunny, cool day.  Perfect for drying clothes, so I got all my laundry done and it was nice to see all those clothes blowing in the breeze.

I had some left over mashed potatoes and Farmer Bill's beans for lunch.  They were the best beans I've ever eaten.

Ken went to get more stones at HT and then continued to work on the water feature. I helped a bit this time.  Ken was down in the water and I'd hand over the stones he asked for.  We worked until the water feature was finished!!  It was about 5:45 and I just didn't feel like making dinner after that.  Had planned on making a zucchini casserole with the zucchini from Farmer Bill but we ended up just going to Burger King.  I love how the pond turned out.  No pictures today but will take some tomorrow and post them.

Hope your day has been sunny and bright and that you smiled often.

Your day sounds like so much fun. I love fresh veggies right off the vine. My parents had a garden and so did my grandparents. There were times when supper came at my grandma's that I wasn't hungry because I had filled up on figs, grapes and any other yummy items in her garden. lol

How fun to receive a personal tour of Farmer Bill's gardens while on your walk. The pictures of the sunflowers are beautiful. Does he sell his garden produce?
I can't wait to see the finished pond. You are going to love it. I have a hard time tearing myself away from ours. The water sounds are so relaxing.
