Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The last few days

Surrounded by weeds

Friday
Didn't get to walk Friday morning because we left for New Jersey first thing to go to a wedding in the evening.  My friend Bernice's daughter was getting married and we wouldn't have missed it for anything.  : )

It wasn't a traditional wedding but it was very nice and we had a great time seeing people we hadn't seen in a long time and meeting new people.  Stacey had been to so many weddings and didn't want to do all the same things that everyone else did.  It was held in Jack's Barn which is in Clinton.  The ceremony  was held just inside the doors which you can see in the picture and the reception was held up in the loft where we sat on long tables.   We ate hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ ribs.  No wedding cake, but there was a cheesecake, brownies and cookies.  All down the middle of the tables were mason jars filled with daisies and we each got to take one home.  Lids to the jars were provided for after the daisies die.
I didn't take a lot of pictures because I just wanted to enjoy it all without having to worry about pictures but did take a few.
Bernice and Chuck both walked Stacey down the aisle.  Picture didn't come out very good because of the sun behind them.
The bride and groom - Stacey and Mike.
Stacey's gown was beautiful and you would never know
she was wearing cowboy boots under there. : )
We had a lovely time but since it was a wedding I didn't get to talk to Bernice nearly long enough.  So plans are being made for her and Chuck to come to our house for a visit sometime in August.  They both like kayaking too and are going to bring their kayaks.

Saturday
We spent Friday night in a Holiday Inn. I didn't walk Saturday morning either.  We left for home around 8:00.  It was a 5 hour drive but a nice drive which most of it was through Pennsylvania.

Home by early afternoon and we then went to an art/craft show at Deep Creek State Park and bought a really cool bird house.  No picture yet but will take one once we get it put up in the yard.

Sunday
Nice to finally take a walk again. : )  Walked 6.1 miles and found a penny.
As like every Sunday the day is taken up with Sunday school, church, a relaxing afternoon and back for the evening service.

Which brings us to today, Monday.

It was 68 degrees this morning on my walk and when I walked out the door a light rain was coming down.  Went back in for my umbrella, walked a couple of blocks and the rain just about stopped so I turned around and went back home to drop off the umbrella.  I didn't feel like carrying it around with me.  I'd rather just get wet.  I walked down the road toward Happy Trails and when I got to the turn off, turned around and came back to town and then just had a random walk around town.

A quiet morning and didn't see anyone else out.  Took another picture of the daisies at the end of my driveway.  They have really filled in now.
I walked 6.4 miles.

It rained on and off all day.
Ken went up to HT and came home twice with a trailer load of stones.

I stayed home and got some cleaning done.  I've just been doing surface cleaning and today spent a good deal of time cleaning the two bathrooms and our bedroom doing a good thorough job of it.

Hope your day has been a happy one and you smiled often.  I've gotten way behind on blog reading but will get around to vising you soon.

You sure have lots of daisies to use in your mason jar. The wedding looked lovely and I am glad that you had fun. How great to have your friends be coming your way in August!

It sounds like you had a wonderful few days away, we all need to do that sometimes.
I love the photo at the top of the page, the fire hydrant, it's rather quirky isn't it?

What a busy week-end you had! The wedding sounds really special! Our daughter wore white boots on her wedding day and antique blue Mason jars held flowers for the tables, too. I love that patch of daisies!

Your fire hydrants are painted the same ways ours have been painted this year. I wonderful if it's a new color scheme.
