Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Home in the rain

Queen Anne's Lace among the wheat
✻     ✻     ✻     ✻

70 degrees this morning, cloudy and windy.  I walked the farm loop and then around town.  Some patches of blue sky started showing but then the clouds covered it up again.  It was really windy in the open areas walking past the farms.  The corn is now quite tall and I love to hear it blowing in the wind.

I saw Farmer Bill but he was trying to get the dogs rounded up so we didn't talk today.  I noticed he moved the hen house but still no chickens in it.

About a mile and half from home I felt the first rain drops but it didn't really start raining until after I was home.

I walked 6.5 miles.

We were going to go kayaking but the rain changed our plans.  I continued on into the library with my cleaning.  When I do a good cleaning, I end up changing things around a bit too so it takes quite a while to finish a room.

It rained on and off all day so we were good to cancel our kayak plans.
Ken and I met up a few times and took a few breaks out on the front porch.  Had  our lunch out there too.  We sit out there and say, "This is the life."

Hope your day was a happy one and you smiled often.

 Three Thankful Things Today
  1. Rain for the gardens
  2. Breaks on the front porch
  3. A mini cup of ice cream in the afternoon
A little while back I told you about Mr Harvey the man in his 80's who still works on his farm in the garden that is 160 years old. We helped his son Stu with the sheep shearing and they go to our church.
I am sorry to say that he fell on his front porch last week and is not doing so well.   Please, take a moment to say a prayer for him.  Thank you.

  1. Hi There, It's much much cooler here today ---and just PERFECT (not too cool --and definitely not hot). Wish it would stay that way all summer... ha

We thought (waited all day) yesterday for some rain here --but never did get more than a tiny bit.. We needed it --and now there's not much chance for several days. Guess we'll have to get the hose out this week.... Fun!!!!

Hope you get to go kayaking soon...

  2. Yes, have said a prayer for Mr. Harvey that he will recover and live every one of his intended days in peace and comfort.

Love that you say to each other "This is the life."

It just started raining here with a big old thunderstorm.

  3. The Queen Anne's lace is pretty, a lovely sight on your walk.. Sorry about the rain! We are expecting cooler temps after this storm passes.. I will send a prayer for your friend.. Enjoy your evening.

  4. Prayers for Mr. Harvey! Hope he recovers. You and Ken are living a beautiful, relaxed life - you are role models for retirement well-lived. We are having some storminess here in Arizona too and I love it. Cooler temps!

  5. I am sorry to hear about Mr. Harvey. My thoughts and prayers for him! How I wish we had a porch here!

  6. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Harvey.
