64 degrees this morning with sun and clouds for my walk around the Farm Loop and a random walk around town.Saw Joe (town worker) checking out the little stream behind the ball park and stopped to talk to him. The stream gets filled up with the fine gravel used on the streets in the winter. It washes off the road into the stream and then they have to take it out of the stream. There is a huge pile sitting there already that he has taken out.
Every time I talk to Joe, when I continue walking he always says, "You be careful out there walking."
I saw a few rabbits out hopping about.
A quiet walk but very nice.
Walked 6.4 miles
Found a penny to start the month of July with.
Added up the coins from June and they totaled 31 cents - 2 dimes, a nickel, 6 pennies.

The lemon scented geranium I put in an old copper tea pot on top of an old kerosene heater.
And the two Autumn Joys I put outside in two old watering cans.

Now for our little adventure today. We've wanted to try kayaking for quite a while now, and today we finally set off to give it a try. Even though we knew we would like it, we thought we'd rent them first to make sure before we bought them.We first went to New Germany State Park. It was disappointing because the lake was small and not at all how we imagined it. Also there was a bus load of kids and all the kayaks were in use. So we left and went to Deep Creek Lake State Park. We didn't really want to go on Deep Creek Lake because it has lots of motor boats on it and it is usually crowed and just wasn't what we had in mind but it was the only place that we could rent them so that is where we went.
My kayak was red and Ken's was yellow and we had a ball paddling around. We went down along one of the coves and it was actually very nice. Out in the lake it was a bit rough.
Ken in his kayak.
Me in a red kayak.
Going under a bridge.
We passed by a Swan Boat.
Just another picture taken from inside my kayak.
After we paddled around awhile we had lunch sitting at picnic table under the trees by the water. It was really fun and we enjoyed it so much when we got home, we did a little research on line and then went out and bought a couple of kayaks of our own. Dunham Sports was having a terrific sale on kayaks and accessories, plus we had a coupon so we got some super deals. We can hardly wait until tomorrow to try them out. Now that we have our own we can go wherever we want to. Tomorrow we are going kayaking on the Savage River Reservoir.
Tomorrow I'll post pictures of our new kayaks and tomorrows adventure. : )
Hope your day was a happy one.

I've seen this saying around but don't who said it.
Be so happy that when others look at you
they become happy too.
Happiness is contagious.

Oh, that looks like fun! I have never been kayaking before but now you make me want to try it. Your rental kayak was the same color as your 'vette! Did you choose that on purpose? I'm glad you had a wonderful day :)
Wow, that's great! I know you will have a lot of fun. Don't forget sun protection, wearing your life jacket, and carrying a little waterproof survival kit. I dream sometimes of living on a lake (with loons) and owning a kayak. I used to own a canoe and had so much fun in it over the years. Once we moved to our townhouse, I had nowhere to keep it anymore. But I sure enjoyed it. Someday.... :^) Enjoy! Art
That really looks like fun! Did you buy a red one for you?
I've never been kayaking. Sounds so much fun. So glad you got a good deal on your own. You guys are such a fun couple. I love this!
You certainly did have an adventure today! One of our daughters and her husband lead kayak trips for guests of the B&B where they are employed. I've never even been inside of one! I hope you enjoy those new purchases.
Oh I miss kayaking! So glad that you won 't be limited by having to rent one. You were brave to take your camera! I never dared for fear I'd drop it. Here's to a great summer of kayaking!
Hey, that sounds great! Glad you enjoyed it enough to. Buy your own. Hope you have lots of adventures, and keep safe. I look forward to your reports.
I hope you can enjoy many hours of kayaking together. It is so good to see couples doing things like this together. We were never water people, but my Hubby and I spent so many hours pursuing our photography hobby.I sure miss those times.
The Kayaking sounds like fun! Hubby and I have done the canoeing but not the kayaks..It is nice to have your own, now you can take them anywhere. Great photos! Have a happy day!
Looks like you both had a great time. When I first saw that swan pic I thought "damn that's a HUGE swan" and then I saw the caption lol.
Now that looks like a lot of fun. I am thinking you will now be reporting on the things you see on land and "sea". We have been kayaking once in Hawaii and saw a lot of large sea turtles swimming under the water. So cool!
That swan boat is something you don't see every day.
Whee! There go Karen and Ken again. A new adventure every 30 days or so. Enjoying retirement!

Try the Youghigheny reservoir on weekdays (very busy on weekends) as it is beautiful there. Enjoy your adventures to come!
I bought a kayak last week! Very excited for you and Ken.
