Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A pretty day

Farm Pond
 ♡     ♡     ♡     ♡
It was a pretty morning when I walked today, the sun was shining and it was 54 degrees.  I walked the farm loop and around town.

I don't see many bike riders but today one came zipping along.  I turned around and snapped a picture.
Down by the Drane house farm I stopped to watch the horse and her colt.
At one point some big old black clouds started rolling in,
but before long they were gone and the blue sky and sun reappeared.
 I walked 6.1 miles.

I waited until the morning wet grass dried and then mowed the lawn.  The other day Ken dug up a little more sod in the back yard for me.  Just a little section that will be for the birds.  Today I made a neat edge with the straight shovel around it and put a bird bath in it.  Next a section of fence goes in and the bird feeders.
It felt like summer today.  Sunny and in the low 80's.  It was still nice and cool though when I took a break and sat under the tree in the swing and felt the breezes. : )
We had quick rain shower and some thunder but then out came the sun again.  The temperature went down a bit too.

Hope your day has been sunny and bright and you smiled often.

Three Thankful Things Today
  1. The sights I get to see on my walk
  2. Cool breezes on a warm day
  3. Good weather to mow the lawn

Karen - Sheep shearing on the farm Saturday was a first for us. : )

  1. Your photo of the biker brought back a memory of my asking two riders if I could take their pictures. "Nooooooo..." came the response as they whizzed past. I'm going to stop asking for permission. LOL!

Love that first farm pond shot! So pretty and so summerlike.

  2. Beautiful countryside for a walk. I like the horse shots and love their names. We have 3 little girls at church named Hope, Faith, and Grace. Have a great week!

  3. Those are peaceful photos of the bicyclist and the horses, and how fun to create an area for birds.

  4. I really like that cloud picture.Of course I'm always watching the clouds.

  5. I love all of your photos today. Such a peaceful glimpse of a morning in the country.
You and Ken work so well together and come up with the neatest projects. I love the start of your little section for the birds.

  6. Pretty scenes from your walk, I love the colt and mom.. It is nice to be able to watch the birds come and go from the feeders. I hope you enjoy the new spot. Wishing you a great evening and week ahead.

  7. Without first reading your text and just viewing the images, 'serene' is the word that pops into my head. :) Such pretty scenes!

I like your idea of making an area just for the birds. I'm sure it will be every bit as attractive as the little garden area you and Ken have been working on at your church.

Mark Twain's quote made me laugh - he understands Midwest weather! :D

  8. I love the horses! Your countryside is beautiful!

  9. Seems like every day is a pretty day where you are...you always see the beauty in every day. That's why I like your blog so much! I've been out of town and am now trying to catch up with my blogging buddies. Have a great Tuesday.

  10. Such lovely sights you see on your walk!!

  11. Great spot there for a bird bath!! That'll make for some awesome bird watching :-)

  12. Gorgeous walk today.. Love all of your photos.. What a beautiful day!!!!

I'm excited about your 'bird kitchen'.... You will SO enjoy feeding the birds....

I have never allowed anonymous comments... Like you said, too much spam.

  13. One thing you can try with the spam comments is allowing anonymous but having everyone enter a code that is displayed. I forget the exact setting, and every now and then I still get a comment that makes not sense, but it generally seems to work well.

I like the photos. You have so many great spots to walk about.
