Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

A busy day

Another picture of the farm house from Saturday.

This morning was the warmest morning so far this year.  64 degrees and sunny.  I have been wearing a tee shirt and a light sweatshirt with two pockets - one for my phone and the other my camera.  Today I had to take the sweatshirt off.

I walked the Farm Loop and around town.  At the one farm the chickens were out in the front yard.
And at the same farm, over just a bit, a lot of the farm cats were around too.  Can you spot all 11 of them?  You'll probably have to click on the picture to make it bigger to see them all.
Walking past the part of the road where there is woods on both sides, I heard a deer making that snorting noise they make, but never did see it.

Today is the last day of school so I won't be waving to the bus drivers for a while.

I walked 6.5 miles.

This morning Ken drove the tractor back up to Happy Trails and I went a little later in the truck to pick him up.  Walked around there a bit while Ken was in the wood shop.  Everything is so over grown already.  We need to spend some time up there.

From there we went to church to put up the sign on the radio tower that Ken made with the radio station call letters and number.   I think it turned out great.
We also put some fringe on the wires so people wouldn't walk into them.
There were a few other men around the church doing work also and Pastor Leatherman was there too.  He ordered two pizzas for all of us for lunch.  : )  How nice of him.

On the way home we stopped at McDonald's and had one of those little fudge sundaes.  That was how we celebrated being completely done with the church project.

At home we sat down in our chairs and were going to have a quick little 10 minute nap and we both ended up sleeping for a hour!!!  I don't usually like taking naps but must have needed it.

I made one of my favorite suppers tonight.  Sweet and Sour Chicken.  It takes a bit of time to make and it quite messy but so worth it.

After supper we went outside and finished making the little bird feeder place.
Not long after the first visitor made an appearance.
And that's been my day.
Hope your day has been a happy one.

Three Thankful Things Today
  1. A surprise pizza lunch
  2. Finishing the church project
  3. Seeing the first bird stop to eat at the new bird feeder place

  1. Wow, that is a lot of kitties!

You sure got a lot done in a day. I think I would like to put up a bird feeder. We had one at our last house but it is more difficult with the townhouse.

  2. Once again you have managed to work such a lot into your day! Wonderful that the birds are visiting already! That was nice of your pastor to order pizza.

Our schools have been dismissed here for the past three weeks or longer. Already the calendar for next school year has been printed. August 11 is their first day here!

  3. You pack more into a day than I do in ten! Impressive! Everything looks so nice and tidy and charming. I know the pastor has to be happy with the way things are looking. It was very nice of him to order pizza! Were there nine cats? I love that first photo of the colorful chickens...what a life!

  4. I love seeing the chickens out in the yard. :) That is A LOT of cats - but I'll bet there's not a rodent to be found.

Ken did a fantastic job with the call letter sign!

I like your bird feeding spot. That's such a great idea to have a bare earth spot below. And to have a Chickadee be your first 'guest'! :)

  5. You are doing great with your walking, especially on a hot day.. Love the chickens. And it is nice to see the first guest at your bird feeders, love the cute chickadee. Have a happy day!

  6. Love that photo of the chickens and also the photo of the cats :)

  7. I can only find 10 cats! I will have to go back over the picture very carefully again later...The sign Ken made is wonderful. Your bird spot is beautiful - and the birds didn't waste time finding it!

  8. I count 11 cats. I doubt there are any rodents in that barn!
Another busy day for you. I got tired just reading it.

  9. I spy 10 cats. #11 must be well camouflaged.
You and Ken had a well-deserved nap. Your days are busy and productive.
Love the new bird area and how cute to see your first visitor.
